I recently bought the CD "The Ultimate Vanessa-Mae. I was bitterly disappointed with both the production and the content. It may be partly my fault for not having heard any part before but I love the violin and on this recording I found it very difficult to listen to it.

When I first came across this CD in 2004-2005 and saw the second track "I feel love" which I always think about Donna Summer's song and after listening to a few samples from this album including "classical gas" (Reggae) and the amazing track "night-flight". Prior to this, I had not heard of Vanessa Mae. As someone who listens to Qawwali music & Nusrat Fatteh Ali Khan - and many of his utterances (qawls) are of the classical variety! The track entitled: "Night-flight" or night-journey as the title suggests reminded me of the "night-journey" Meraj (Night Ascension): Isra and Meraj (night-journey) or night-flight by our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 620 AD.

I found this CD to be very therapeutic & counter against most stress-related illnesses and many of my friends who listened to this CD - found it to be very relaxing! Many have commented that they have felt better after listening to this type music than the usual mainstream rock or pop songs. Obviously, there are many "new age" music CDs that also fall into this genre/category as well.

I also recommend that you listen to Yo-Yo Ma sampler "Music from around the world" or "Silk Road, Soul of the Tango".
