3.0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag 20 July 2003
By J. A. Eyers VINE™ VOICE
This songbook has some great tabs, most notably:

- Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You (Led Zeppelin)
- Blue Suede Shoes (Elvis Presley)
- Don't Speak (No Doubt)
- Great Balls Of Fire (Jerry Lewis)
- Rock Around The Clock (Bill Haley)
- Wonderwall (Oasis)

There's also a great selection, with hymns (El Shaddai, Amazing Grace), theme tunes (Addams Family, Mission Impossible), traditional folk songs (Danny Boy, Auld Lang Syne), old songs (Greensleves, Ave Maria) and new (such as Don't Speak and Wonderwall).

The downside to such a variety is that there are invariably songs you won't know, and learning them would have been easier with a CD of tracks, like a lot of books come with. The sheer variety of stuff means there are some very easy songs to learn, but also some very challenging ones, so it's hard to tell just who it is aimed at.

Also, some of the 110 songs promised on the front cover only have their main riffs tabbed and some of are labelled Easy Guitar, which means they only have their chords.

So there's some good stuff here, but also some wasted pages. It certainly isn't "The Complete Resource" it claims it is, but good for what it has, at the price it is.

As a new player, I found this book to be an excellent playing guide. It's wide variety of pieces makes the playing more fun and keeps you interested in the guitar. Includes sections on: Full recorded versions, Easy Guitar with Notes and TAB, Easy Guitar full songs, Chord Melody, Classical Guitar, Fingerstyle Guitar, and Guitar Riffs. Most of these pieces are very popular and timeless classics(i.e. Here Comes the Sun, Mission Impossible Theme, Yesterday, Misty, Crazy)....with a few newer pops, rock, and country (i.e. Takin' Care of Business, Friends in Low Places, T-R-O-U-B-L-E, Layla). This is only a very short list of the 110 songs! A Very Good Book

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for playing fun songs. 4 May 2001
By R. Carandang - Published on Amazon.com
This book contains a lot of fun songs to play for beginners to intermediate guitar players. I found it especially helpful that the author provides the player with strumming and finger picking patterns. Check out the song list and see if this book is for you. I guarantee that you'll have hours of fun learning some of the songs from this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Songs ! 14 Jun 2001
By "texas_cowgirl" - Published on Amazon.com
I love this book because it gives lots of good songs and includes a picture of the required chords needed to play the song. I think it is a book every guitar person needs. I am a beginner and it has a variation of songs from easy to difficult.
