Biography

Biographyby Barry Weber

Though many bands have succeeded in earning the hatred of parents and media worldwide throughout the past few decades, arguably only such acts as Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, and Marilyn Manson have tied the controversial record of Ozzy Osbourne. The former Black Sabbath frontman has been highly criticized over his career, mostly due to rumors denouncing him as a ... Read more in Amazon's Ozzy Osbourne Store

5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate Ozzy album 10 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Ozzy took a while you get over Randy Rhodes untimely death, which is only understandable, but he is back with a killer of an album. Ultimate Sin is a shinning example of just how diverse the mans music can be. From Killer Of Giants, which carries a message about the threat of nuclear war and the danger posed by the like of the cold war, through to Shot In The Dark which has the same sort of message but on a more personal level. Some of the guitar solos by Jake Lee are superb with the one during Lighting Strikes being the pick of the bunch. There are a couple of what I can only describes as below par tracks on here in the form of Fool Like You and Secret Loser which in my opinion don't come up to the usual standard and only seem to be there to make up the numbers. I said it earlier that the best thing about the album is the guitar work and maybe Ozzy was still getting over his best friends death when he did this album and that may account for some of the weaker points about it, however it is still with a listen and take a chance and add it to your collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Album But Doesn't Pack A Punch 16 Mar 2014
By Timelord007 TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
This was Ozzys fourth studio album & it's pretty much a mixed bag of songs.

The Ultimate Sin sees Ozzy in a more rock pop commercial light which goes against what's come before or after thanks to a resurgence of Rock greatness with Zak Wylde on the following album No Rest For The Wicked.

There are a few good tracks on this album, Secret Loser being my favourite it has a catchy chorus with some great rock riffs courtesy of Jake L.Lee's great guitar playing.

Shot In The Dark is a likeable song & was one of the songs that was released as a single while the Ultimate Sin is a worthy metal classic & a great title song opener.

Other tracks on this album like Killer Giants, Fool Like You & Thank God For The Bomb seem quite flat & not polished enough to stand out as classic Ozzy, As I thought they have a "That'll do" feel to them.

Ozzy himself admitted this album could've been a better & fair play to his honesty, While it is not a total disaster this does lacks the spine tingling power of other Ozzy albums, Sadly I thought this album a missed opportunity.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Sin is VERY good. 2 Mar 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
When I first heard this i was not too sure as it seemed to have such a different sound to his previous albums.
Can't put my finger on it but it just sounds different.
NOT different in a bad way. Don't get me wrong, this is album is exceedingly good and the more you hear it the more addictive it becomes.
Its underrated and undervalued. It is a truly great rock album. It does not pretend to be anything .
It is Ozzy on fine form and the tracks ( all of them ) are quality.

Beauty and the beast on the cover, a rocking album. People think that Ozzy is nothing more than a drunken old rocker with nothing to say, well listen to this album and be proved wrong. There are very clever lyrics in songs such as Thank God for the Bomb, not a song that condones war but is anti war, Again in Killer of Giants a anti nuclear war song. Ozzy Osbourne is Rock.

More americanised album for a more commercial audience, late 80's hair metal era, glitz n glam all the way, with Jake E Lee on guitar.
