Clear evidence that evil has made port in London.

The horrific case piques the interest of P.I. Lorne Simpkins. It doesn't take long before Lorne learns that young, helpless women are being caged and sold to the wealthy and salacious. Old wounds are wrenched open when she suspects a cover-up by the very authorities that should be keeping lawful order. Can she trust the self-serving journalist bent on making the human-trafficking ring his next big story? When her daughter is involved in a life-threatening accident, it's difficult for Lorne to keep her head in the game. But Lorne and her ex-MI6 husband, Tony, are determined to end the repulsive slave trade and bring the criminals to justice--even if it means Lorne ends up locked in a cage herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 star suspense 10 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
When a wrecked ship is found to contain the bodies of 25 young Asian girls Lorne is determined to investigate in spite of reservations from both her husband and father. She teams up with former colleagues DS Katy Foster and DCI Sean Roberts and soon finds herself in serious danger.
This is another great story showing the tenacity of Lorne even in the face of great risk to herself. I was delighted to see some of her Met colleagues as well as the wonderful character that is psychic Carol Lang. Along with the newspaper reporter who gets a shock when meeting Tony for the first time she adds a little light relief to the story. I sincerely hope that we haven't yet seen the end of Lorne and Tony.
More please Mel.

5.0 out of 5 stars 6th in series 25 Nov 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Mel Comley. 6th in series
Ultimate Justice
6th in this series following Lorne and her work at the animal sanctuary she owns with Tony her husband. They both own a PI business as well, leaving her father to look after the sanctuary.
But when a ship has an accident during a storm, and over 20 bodies of Asian descent are washed ashore, Lorne begins to think a crime has been committed. Lorne takes it upon herself to find out what is going on, but as usual it never as easy as things seem with Lorne and her family.
Follow Lorne in this latest adventure and as you would expect you will enjoy this book. From start to finish you will get carried along at a fair pace and as always you will love the way Lorne is developing.
5 stars 25 November 2013.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable book 22 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Fast moving and lots of action. A bit too much action. It all happens. After all that has happened in the previous books I would think Lorne would want to live a quiet life, but the story is gritty and believable. If you have read the other books in this series than you have to read this one. I am now going to read the 3rd book, about the unicorn, I feel I had overloaded on the unicorn hence going straight to 4th book.
