3.0 out of 5 stars Confusing Delivery, but Good Stuff 7 Jan 2008
By David W. Millar - Published on Amazon.com
Stuart Bull's DVDs usually have good, easy to understand content with a smooth delivery. This one was a bit confusing to follow, however the material he was covering isn't necessarily the easiest thing to teach. Especially since the delivery avoids lots of theory in order to keep the information accessible.

Good info, but hard to follow. If you are familiar with scale construction and modes, you'll probably get the most out of this.

I disagree with another reviewer here in saying Stuart Bull being a terrible teacher. I think Mr. Bull is a good and competent teacher. I am saying that not just by watching this DVD, but also the experience from watching his several other DVDs. I purchased this DVD recently from Amazon, watched it and found it very helpful for me to understand the concept of scale positions on the fretboard. I will adopt his method in my guitar playing. The only slightly confusing part is Mr. Bull uses the term "scale position" whereas other guitar teachers use "scale pattern". In other material, the term "position" usually means the position on the fretboard such as 1st fret, 2nd fret, etc. But I was able to figure out the difference without difficulty as he explained. His British accent doesn't bother me. England is the origin of the English language. I don't think we have rights to criticize their speaking. I am a Chinese living in the United States for 12 years. Therefore I am more used to American accent. But his speaking is totally understandable to me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, Terrible, Terrible 3 Oct 2007
By JAMRE - Published on Amazon.com
Do not waste your money on this DVD. I love instructional DVDs but this is the worst I've ever seen, especially for $20. Stuart Bull is a terrible and confusing teacher, even without his thick accent. His delivery is so disjointed that his lesson goes nowhere. I'm writing this on the way to the trash can and I'm throwing this away, honest.
