What a wonderful collection of tracks here. On the face of it quite simple, with gentle, unforced rhythms and a wash of synth and guitars carefully blended together. Listen deeper though, and you begin to notice the incredible multi-layering and blending to bring about the real beauty within.
The sonic backdrops, especially with the added and very welcome guitar from Jonas, remind me of the Cocteau Twins' backing tracks, only without the magical Elizabeth Fraser to lead the songs. Instead, the gentle, subtle pitch-bending and simple but effective key changes draw you into the multi-layered beauty and allow you to close your eyes and just "feel" the vibe, if you see what I mean.
Herr Schnauss' music has always touched my very soul, and this album does exactly the same. There's something precious here in the music for me and I thank both the artists very much indeed for taking the time to record and produce it. A shame it only seems to be a download though - I've got this "thing" about MP3's throwing so much data away, even if it isn't "always" audible :-) Maybe a FLAC or similar *lossless* download wuld be better now download speeds are so much higher generally.....?
