Yeah sometimes they might actually be paying alot depending on the level difference lol. I tend to only hire ones just a few levels ahead of me so that they will last a little while. That way when they are sent back I know the person should at least be getting a few thousand RC ^^
I tend to hire about 4 or 5 levels above that way if i like them i can journey with them for a bit AND the major plus is that they can help with knowledge about the area and weaknesses of enemies. I think capcom made it this way kinda.
My female strider Ta'Keela ;) (psn oldHTK) got 2000k yesterday from somebody (she was only level 10 at the time) so i guess they liked them :) Its always good to hear your pawn is doing good haha! But i always fit her out in decent gear and enhance her weapons and armour.
Ive just recently managed to get her to eat healing herbs because for some reason she wasnt doing this before. My next challenge is to get her to use poison and sleep arrows. Either i need to change profession to strider and use them or someone whose main is a strider/archer needs to hire her so she can learn i guess.
EDIT - ahh i'm wrong! To get them to use different arrow types you need to go to the Inn at Gran Soren sit down at a table with your pawn and ask them some questions i.e. change their combat behaviour to more Utilitarian. That way they will use more attack types e.g. poison arrows. You can also just buy a potion with RC from the old dude at the riftstone in the encampment which can alter your pawn's behaviour.
One think i dont do - i dont hire pawns who are just bling e.g. those who have just chucked on the DLC amour set you can buy (Captain Mercedes armour) Kinda boring imo. I like pawns with a distinctive look.
Jez - while I get your point about being a bit boring, the Captains armour is actually very good, at least at earlier levels, and a far better option when picking a pawn than taking someone in an assorted mix of leather and cloth no matter how cool they might look. I've tried swapping my pawn into other armour and the stat drop is quite significant.
Yeah but its not really earned is it? I saw some level 8s with this on in the rift. Doesnt fit with the aesthetic of pawns around that level. (absolutely nothing anywhere near it) But obviously people can deck their pawns out how they like :) I'm sure Capcom wont mind! For me it breaks the atmosphere aesthetic. Bit like the Blood Dragon Armour in Dragon Age/Mass Effect. What i mean by that is, they make available a great armour set **to buy** early in the game which trumps everything until ages into the game. Its akin to getting that dragon sword at the start (but at +5) in Dark souls. I'm just whinging...people can play as they like - doesnt affect my game :)
Dosnt take that long before the captains armour is worthless, does help keep a squishy mage pawn alive at the beginning but then there are items that boost magic attack which you cant use if you equip it,so its best to leave them squishy but doing more damage, the only real benefit of it is it will get early pawns hired by newer players, either because how professional they look or the frontage of the metal plate.
Once you sleep at an inn with your pawn, if you are connected to LIVE or PSN, it sync's to the network, which means its available online, and then if you go offline, it is still there. If you aren't online then you cant make it available. If you aren't online and have synced it before by sleeping at an inn, it won't gain new levels or skills for people to see online as you need to be connected online for it to refresh its skill set and its armor set. Hope that made sense.......
So, even if my ps3 is turned off my pawn has a chance to serve someone... I need only to update pawns status to capcom servers and quit game properly via menu. Cool i just over lvled Rook(first pawn gained in start village) and my personal pawn is at lvl 2 (im at lvl6)
Game is superb i like herbs and meat that rott etc
Im loving the game too, only problem ive found with the pawn system is once you get to level 40 and over the pawns, look like they should be called porns instead, everyone is half naked running around my world at the moment, probably gonna start playing offline and use the built in pawns.
nah they have there bits covered, but little else is being worn, there are undies and other revealing clothes that are found or bought ingame,my pawn came back wearing the maiden set which is a very short skirt and a camisole top,its seems the best way to get a pawn hired is to make them wear as little as possible.
ive been collected about 16 of those medals/coins now from the DLC, i got all 100 of them free so thought i might aswell do them and tbh im loving them. I like climbing stuff and sometimes falling off buildings for them. As for the DLC with amazon i put the codes in but when getting the items in game like the armor etc i sold it as i didnt like it, plus i enjoy searching for diff armor and also because majority of the people who have borrowed my pawn have given me some quality armor such as dragon knight helm and so on...im still loving this game and currently part way through NG+ but not rushing it, pawns around lvl67/68, currently rank8 strider but can change to rank9 sorcerer when i feel.
I can't get myself to go through New Game Plus. I loved the game immensely during my normal playthrough, but I just wish they had scaled the enemies to your levels in New Game Plus. It's no fun, in my opinion, to one shot most enemies just to get between Gran Soren and Cassardis. Most other RPGs have level scaling enemies, why not this one?
I thought most of the point of NG+ was to go into the previously unreachable depths of Everfall and to fight the Ur Dragon. I dont really want to just replay the game with an uber Arisen that can one shot everything, would rather start a whole new game with a different vocation and experience it properly again. But Everfall and the Ur do sound worth a bit of time in NG+ (and travel shouldnt be an issue as you can have at least 6 portcrystals scattered around the map in NG+).
You'll know when it happens as the Everfall is the obvious thing to interact with. I'm exploring all the chambers of Everfall now and fighting the Ur Dragon, but havent started a NG+. As far as I can tell NG+ resets the game (apart from Ur Dragon access) and so full access to the Everfall won't be available until post game again.
