Book Description

When Tate Collins finds airline pilot Miles Archer passed out in front of her apartment door, it is definitely not love at first sight. They wouldn't even go so far as to consider themselves friends. But what they do have is an undeniable mutual attraction.
He doesn't want love and she doesn't have time for a relationship, but their chemistry cannot be ignored. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up, as long as Tate can stick to two rules:
Never ask about the past and don't expect a future.
Tate is determined that she can handle it, but when she realises that she can't, will she be able to say no to her sexy pilot when he lives just next door!
This new romance from Colleen Hoover will have you laughing and crying in equal measure - definitely her best book yet!

5.0 out of 5 stars I need a Cap in my life 4 Oct. 2014
By Cundykj
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Colleen Hoover is the master of tears.

She knows it. She rocks it. I would walk a million miles for one of Miles' smiles.

One criticism I hate the UK cover. The US one is so much better. So my review - brain = liquid. Heart = butter.

Miles, heartbroken, damaged, beautiful, fascinating, sexy, not had sex in 6 years. Those all just became my new favourite words, too. Believe and me and when and I and tell and you and I'm and ready. How could Tate not fall for him?

Don't ask about the past. Don't expect a future. Guess what, I 'm a reader and I neeeeeeeed to know. Like I need my next breath.

She sucks you in. Gets you so invested in the story that you will beg on your knees for more; even though you know it will be ugly.

I can't compare this to Hopeless because it would be like saying I love one child more than another. I love both equally.

I read UL in paperback and had to put paper in my favourite parts (I do not do book abuse).

Cap is a genius! Love isn't always pretty Tate. Sometimes you spend all your time hoping it'll eventually be something different. Something better. Then, before you know it, you're back to square one, and you lost your heart somewhere along the way.

Anyway, I put lots of bits of paper to mark my favourite bits but there are too many to mention.

I loved this book. I want to give Colleen a big smushy hug. She gave me Holder, she gave me Ridge, she gave me Miles. Loved it. Je suis en France maintenant, et danque il faux que je dis j'aime Colleen. Vraiment. Absolument, plus fort!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and poignant... 19 Aug. 2014
Colleen Hoover is a completely new author to me. I’ve heard great things about her books but for some reason never got round to reading any of her work until I signed up to review Ugly Love…and I’m so glad that I did, because I couldn’t get enough of this novel!
I really liked the sound of the synopsis and the book completely lived up to my expectations. I was immediately drawn in by Miles. Just what was this huge secret controlling his life and making him afraid to love anyone? The hopeless romantic side of me desperately wanted him to get over this hurdle and just accept Tate’s love. However, as the story progresses there’s a huge twist to proceedings and I came round to Miles’ way of thinking. Although it might be distorted, I could understand why he felt the way he did towards the end.

The story is mainly told from Tate’s point of view, but every other chapter is told by Miles, six years before the present day (it’s through this that you learnt what happened to Miles all those years ago). I found this to be a really effective way of writing and I found the story all the more enjoyable (and gripping!) as the past is slowly revealed to you in this way.

I loved the chemistry between Tate and Miles, it was sizzling and they are the perfect couple. I NEEDED them to be together, hence my racing through this book in just two days. I couldn’t bear not knowing what was going to happen between them. Be warned; under no circumstances start this book if you have plans because nothing will get done. You will get completely grabbed in by the story and not be able to focus on anything else until you know the outcome.

There is an excellent array of characters too.

4.0 out of 5 stars simply sensational 12 Aug. 2014
OK OK – takes deep breath.
Sooo I kinda stayed up all night Saturday reading this book and I have to pronounce Colleen Hoover the Queen of words that bring on all the feels. I mean ALL the feels.

I was instantly apprehensive remembering just how ugly the sobbing got when I read Maybe, Someday. With the buzz about Ugly Love being even more emotional I prepared myself in advance anxiously awaiting that point where my heart gets ripped out of my chest. I gotta tell you – I didn’t cry. You’re probably screaming WHAT? at the screen right now but it’s true – I didn’t cry. You want to know why? It’s because I would still be crying, the type of crying you never recover from. The type of devastation that there is no way back from. As the plot unfolded I had an inkling of where we were going to end up. Believe me I prayed to the god of words and plot lines that it wasn’t what I thought but just in case the niggles at the back of my mind was confirmed I couldn’t allow myself to feel that kind of pain. So I detached myself, I kept that barrier firmly in place. Don’t get me wrong I still felt the pain but I just COULDN’T do it on a personal level – I know it makes no sense but it would have just been too personal. The type of personal where you get up in the morning and kiss and hug the people you love just for being there. That totally happened by the way. Just not the personal I could take too personally – if you get what I mean. Yeah you probably don’t unless you’ve read it – which you totally should because its beautiful.

Told in dual narrative from Tate and Miles’s point of view. Whereas Tate’s perspective is the present action and interaction, Miles takes us back to events that have shaped his present situation. OH MY GOD MILES.
