Nick Arnold has a wonderful way of making science interesting from a different view. The designs and cartoons are really good. I like it that you can dip in anywhere in the book without having to read from front cover to back. I especially enjoyed the prospectus style clips and the graphical subject titles that encouraged me to read that section. The front cover is fun and eyecatching I have all 8 (to date) Horrible Science books and eagerly await Nick's next book.

'Are you itching to find out:-

which bugs hide behind the wallpaper?
what slugs do with their slime?
why flies throw up on your tea?
how insects drink from your blood?

'If you think you can stomach the 'sick' side of Science, then read on as the insect world goes underneath the magnifying glass.
Observe some foul families of bugs, discover the secrets of strange scientists and test the theories of insect disguise.

With fearsome fact files and curious quizzes, teacher tests and crazy cartoons.

127 pages, split over 15 chapters:-

Introduction
Ugly bug families
Weird worms
Slimy snails and ugly slugs
Underwater uglies
Creepy-crawlies
Insect invaders
Horrible beetles
Awesome ants
Sleazy bees
Pretty uglies
Savage spiders
Biting bugs
Devious disguises
Ugly bugs vs. horrible humans

written in a variety of fonts in the usual Nick Arnold entertaining style.
Black and white illustrations throughout, as well as 'Bet you never knew' fact-boxes, e.g.:-

'May or June is when mayflies hatch out and have the day of their lives.
Literally.
They only live a day or so. They mate, lay their eggs and die.
Ugly bugs and fearsome fish go crazy banqueting on the bodies.'

Science has never been so horrible!'
