Ubuntu makes great Linux for a desktop (or laptop). I tried few other Linux versions since last summer and Fedora and Ubuntu became my two favorites. I installed this Ubuntu on my Toshiba and HP laptops and in both cases the installations was simple and quick. It recognized all of the hardware and required no efforts on my side. The included library contains books for all levels of users, from very beginners to advanced and the "video intro" does very nice job on introducing command line commands to first time users. It is my second purchase from DVDxDVD and they provide great service and support. This set is great, it comes with everything one needs for setting linux and starting using it.

My favorite Linux 1 Mar 2011
Ubuntu is great Linux.
I wanted a new Operating System because I'm tired of Windows crashing, viruses, and the expensive software and upgrades. I was thinking about having it with windows in double boot configuration, but after two months, as I ever needed windows since, I removed windows completely. For general computer use Ubuntu is great. I do some digital photography, not professionally, but as an advanced amateur, and included tools, editors are very cool. It is very neat system, quality set, recommended!

Excellent Alternative for Microsoft OS 2 Feb 2011

The CDs arrived within the time period and in excellent condition. Documentation provided was also very helpful. I knew next to nothing about Linux before purchasing these CDs. However, I recently acquired an HP Pavilion tx2500 tablet notebook, and I decided to switch from Vista 32-bit to Linux 64-bit just out of curiosity. I was expecting problems based upon numerous reviews regarding missing drivers and difficulties with wireless network connections particularly with this notebook. I was very very happy and amazed at how easily and smoothly the 64-bit installation went. All drivers I needed (even tablet) were available and working by the time I finished. And with the inclusion of how-to technical CDs, I'm now an Ubuntu believer.

Great Product/ Great Service 25 Jan 2011

If you're new to Linux like I am, then you want to purchase your Linux/Ubuntu distribution from DVDxDVD. I purchased the dvd/4 gig flash drive combo from DVDxDVD and received my order in 3 days.

The dvds run PERFECTLY on my Windows Vista laptop!

The flash drive was a Godsend because I can run Ubuntu 10.10 on Sony VAIO UX390N micro pc, which is smaller than a netbook!

I wanted a new Operating System because I'm tired of Windows crashing, viruses, and the expensive software and upgrades.

I also have an old PowerPC Mac laptop. Though viruses are not a problem on a Mac, the software, and accessories cost a fortune.

I feel Linux, in particular, the Ubuntu distribution, is the way to go.

And, again, if you need to purchase a Linux distribution-- DVDxDVD is the way to go.

Ubuntu Linux Software 29 Jan 2011

Why pay the price for Microsoft when you can use an operating system based on the reliable Unix language. There are 1000's of programs written to add on just about anything. It is nice to have the full set with me all the time for an easy reinstall for myself or a friend. You can do that for nothing at Microsoft. This is the most stable Operating System. You don't even need an anti-virus.
