Yes of course, you will first need to connect the printer to your router which can be a bit tricky but once you have achived this, all you need to do is install the printer software on the laptop but choose the wireless option instead of USB.
If you are using WEP on your router (which I am)it's more tricky than using WPA, you will need to enter the wep key into the printer to allow it to connect to your router. If I remember correctly, you will need to install the printer software on the wireless laptop choosing the wireless printer option but since the printer isn't connected to your router yet you will be prompted to connect the printer temporarily via the USB cable so that you can enter the WEP into the printer. Then once the printer is connected to the router (the blue wireless light on the printer stops blinking) you will be able to print wireless. Then any subsequent printer that you connect, you just choose the wireless option when installing the software and it should find the printer automatically. If you need to enter the mac address of any wireless device into your router youn can find this by choosing the print info otion directly from the router. It will print out a sheet of paper that has the printer mac address.
I have just purchased an HP Deskjet 3050 wireless and it's been a hell of a business trying to connect wireless.
I do not have any WEP button that I could press on the Router - Orange Siemens so that option cannot apply in this case.
As for "entering" WEP into the printer - how could you do this since there is no typing facility on this printer?
I managed to do the alignment print and scanned it okay; followed the rest of the instructions using the CD and usb cable as instructed during the process.
Having done all this, I thought all was well until I tried to print a word doc and a returns label wireless the day after which has not been successful.
Would be grateful if you could please give further instruction.
I have been on the phone to Orange for about an hour earlier trying to find out about a router with push button and then messed up my Internet connection having fiddled with the settings - all the 192.168.1.1 thing. Thank God Orange was able to assist me in reinstating it.
Please help with successfully connecting the HP 3050 for wireless printing.
