This TOMTOM micro unit is excellent. I am using it with a brand new TomTom 25M. No wires to stick on windscreen, just the 12 volt adapter and a flat cable which seems to have 2 wires in it. This simply extends to the back of the unit. In other words this is just a charge cable that does traffic! The length of the cable is 170cm approx. which is plenty to position the TomTom anywhere. I have mine stuck on the dash above the centre console.

The unit supplied would seem to be genuine TomTom with TomTom stickers on the on the charger and the TomTom emblem embossed on the Micro USB adapter that connects into the TomTom, it was however just supplied in a plastic bag, so no retail packaging, but for the price of £20 instead of the £50 list price who cares.

My test was to plug it into the vehicle, it connected and downloaded traffic within 1 minute! The TomTom 25M displays a bar to the right of the screen that shows traffic issues and the expected delay and the map has little yellow cars that showed the location of slow traffic and also road signs showing constrictions or closed lanes are displayed.

This is my second TomTom traffic unit I have used. The first was connected to a Go720 and was the old style which had leads that you had to stick on your windscreen with suction cups, by the time you had installed this unit you felt as if you should take up knitting due the amount of cables around the dash. This unit was not useful, very intermittent and the hassle of using it often meant it was easier not to bother.

This new unit it has exceeded my expectations. It connects so quickly and is so neat it just replaces the standard charge cable and you can use it on the shortest of journeys as it connects within the time you have programmed the unit with the address.

I used to have a tomtom live, but found that parting with £50 per year to keep it was getting a little out of hand. I was lucky enough to recently get a tomtom via 135 with free lifetime maps..all that was missing was traffic info. Saw this cable and read the mixed reviews. I decided to try it. Obviously the live system is the best, as it updates every 2 minutes, using phone signals, tmc, rds. I have given this a quick try, and so far I feel its good value. It picked up the signals straight away. I tried manually tuning it to a local radio station, but it reckoned that it couldnt find it, however, if you leave it to auto tune it gets all the info anyway. Im on the M62 nightmare drive daily for work, and this can change from ok to a no go area in seconds. I think for a free service its pretty good. It gives you a heads up. Even when I had the live tomtom I would sometimes drive into queues just to see if it works (hey, im at work and getting paid anyway!!). In the following weeks i'll take it through its paces, but so far im impressed.

This is the correct unit for the new TomTom start60 range, which requires a micro usb plug.
Good value and replaces charger cable as well as being traffic receiver.

I purchased this cable from amazon because TomTom charge £49.99 for the same thing and at £28+ it was a bargin it fits my TomTom Start 25 perfectly and i simply plugged it in and within a few seconds it was up and working I had read all the reveiws on amazon and looked at all the options and decided to purchase this one and I must say I am very impressed with it , it does exactly what it said on the tin and I would recommend it to anyone

The replacement power lead for the tomtom incorporates a device that supplies live traffic information to the TomTom.

So far, although I've used it regularly, I've never been prompted to change my route. It has warned me of delays on the M6, but they were so trivial that no detour was necessary.

I'm still waiting to see what happens next time I meet the usual delays on the M6 between junctions 18 and 16.

It is necessary to keep the tomtom high up on the LHS of the windscreen, otherwise, it doesn't pick up the traffic information quickly.

It is also important to buy the correct version of the power lead. I bought the micro USB version in error, instead of the mini USB, but I live close to CPC so I was able to buy an adaptor over the counter and modify it to suit the rather deep socket on my old-fashioned TomTom.

For use with a Tom tom Start 25 M ( despite the seller (Halfords) telling me the start cannot use this facility), Plugged in, it was instantly recognised by the unit and I didn't need to do anything, it just worked.!! What more could you want?,
Well, just 1 more small thing; The original power lead had a separate lead and 12v cigar socket connector joined by a USB socket so that you could use that lead to connect to your computer to update the unit, - THIS HASN'T.
Its not a problem as I can use the original one, but its a small thing that would have been nice to have.
That would have got it its fifth star.

Had this item couple of weeks now. It seems to take ages to find an RDS station and when it does no matter what route you put into it the TMC finds no problems on the roads, but the IQ route will advise of a 3 minute delay due to time of day etc. Had the cable up to the windscreen as far as possible but no difference. Even tried a manual tune to a local RDS station.
Think Tom Tom should really not be selling this as not reliable enough to use apart from keeping the Sat Nav charged!
