USB 3.0 is the new standard for super speed Universal Serial Bus. USB3.0 can support speeds of UPTO 5Gbps. With USB 3.0 still being in its infancy, speeds may vary somewhat due to current hardward restrictions.
I purchased this item to use as an extension to the very short charging lead supplied with the Asus Eee pad Transformer, I can confirm it works perfectly and indeed it is blue
I bought this in the hope that it would allow me to connect my usb 3.0 portable drive (WD My Passport Essential SE), to the rear port without the faff each time.
Thankfully it works and powers the drive fine. I had a write speed of 61mbps for the vast majority of a 250gb copy of files, ranging from 57-63mbps probably depending upon file sizes.
Not quite sure how user error becomes a factor with plugging in a cable, but despite the previous user's comment, this works perfectly fine to extend the power of my Asus Transformer by plugging the extension cable into the Asus plug power supply, and then plugging the Asus charging cable into the extension. Charges my tablet no problem.
