Product Description

Mealworms are a high protein tasty treat that birds find irresistible. Many species, especially robins and blackbirds, love these additive-free treats, which have all the goodness of live mealworms (beetle larvae) but not the moisture. Sprinkle as they are, or rehydrate by soaking in warm water for a few minutes.

UKPetSupplies selects the best quality dried mealworms and offers the best prices around to keep both you and the birds happy.

This is a 1Kg bag of high quality dried mealworms.

Dried mealworm's protein content is 48%--58%.It is an excellent animal protein. It has high nutritional value, and ease of digestion and absorption by the body, so it is the ideal high-protein nutrition enhancer.

UKPetSupplies selects the best quality dried mealworms - don't settle for any other brand!

By Hermes Love TOP 100 REVIEWER
Being the proud owner of two feeding stations that see significantly more bird activity than I do, I finally decided to overcome my squeamishness and get myself 1kg of mealworms. They are positively skin-crawling in appearance, but I am happy to be doing the very best I can for my feathered friends. I am already forking out a small fortune every week for coconut halves, fat balls, peanuts and seed, but what is the point of having savings nowadays anyway?

I targeted the feeding station in the front garden, since it is right outside my window. What I saw, was incredible - terrifying even, in a Tippi Hedren kind of a way. One starling, motoring through these mealworms like the winner of an eating competition. Followed by another starling, and then another. Within five minutes I had a small flock outside, all arguing and shouting at each other. Great entertainment, even better than 'EastEnders' (mind you, that's not much of a recommendation). But personally scary, once it became apparent that their mealworms were running low. I could have just hidden under my desk and waited for them all to leave of course, but one or two of them had made eye-contact with me by then. There was one particularly gobby one, I managed to stare him down. But that was when they unleashed their Plan B. They brought the kids. A gorgeous, but surprisingly loud, baby starling, whose sole aim was apparently to stand outside my window shouting noisily for mealworms until either his parents cracked or I did.

Predictably enough, it was me that gave in first. Whereupon, we went through the entire episode all over again. Well, up to the point where they started all their scare tactics; I was locked in the smallest room by then. For 'safety', you understand.

To say that these worms are absolutely dreadful would be an understatement. However, the local birdlife fight to get to the pots filled with these things. They absolutely love them and we have some quite chubby birds round here. I would recommend them to anyone who likes to feed birds. I just can't touch them.

5 stars if only because they're so ugly

A nice big bag of mealworms which my robin and sparrows love. A tub would be easier but I expect that would put the cost up. Good value

My birds love these, I put some out every day in a tray attached to the bird feeder and it's nice to see the variety of birds that come to feed.

These are expensive and best for use in the winter when they will attract blackbirds and robins to the garden. Unfortunately jackdaws and crows also like them!
