Recorded in 6 days on a 4-track recording machine by a South London car dealer several years before the band descended into the cliches of stadium rock mediocrity, this was recorded when UFO were the new wannabes on the UK underground rock scene. A pretty good job they made of it too when one considers the genre and the other albums of that era. Indeed, while a lot of bands from that year made generic psych-prog albums that often sounded pretty similar, UFO manage to sound different to the rest. While in terms of musical virtuosity there is just no comparison with later versions of the band, this album for many captures a far rougher, more exciting, underground version of UFO than the sleek and polished rock machine which was soon to launch its assault on the world's metal charts.

ufo1 is ufo`s first album. first released in 1970, it`s good old hard space-rock.there`s some really great riffs on this one and really good musicianship too. if you like this one, i would recommend "ufo2-one hour space rock" by the some band. excellent tunes, very well played.

Ufo were very young here. they created a very good psych rock disc , psych rock was replaced soon after this by early metal. This one is psych rock though and it's good psych rock. It has some very well played songs on here and the hit single "c,mon eerybody". It's a aquired taste though if you are fan of later ufo discs. I like psych rock so this was good stuff for me but in truth it's not up to the level of what came later under michael schenker. ufo fans can find some enjoyment in this and can complete their ufo collections with it. But don't expect the sounds of the later band here.

I saw these when I was about fourteen at a gig near Birkenhead they where the support band to Chicken Shack, it was one of the best concerts I have been to. At the time the vinyl albums where on the Becon label and almost impossible to get hold of. The bands style changes after UFO Live but the first three albums esp Flying and Live are recommended. After this I hold the converse view to reviewer Jenko they changed became boring heavy rock / metal.
