Lightweights & Light-Heavyweights 'get it on' in the most controversial series of TUF to date! If you've seen
TUF Season 9 - United States vs United Kingdom then you may remember how Rob Browning was brought in as an alternate & how coach Dan Henderson & his entire US team didn't want him in the house. That's because of what his brother Junie 'Junior' Browning gets up to in this series.
A charismatic & talented Lightweight, Junie has great screen presence. It's probably this that saves him from being booted out of the house in the first couple of days. After growing up poor in a trailer park & constantly being beaten up by his older brothers, he comes into the house with a drink problem & anger management issues. These lead him to try & start fights inside the house & even jumping into the octagon to take on a fighter who beats one of his team-mates. He clearly has no respect for anyone, saying in the first episode that all the others are just there to get free Tap-Out t-shirts & he could even beat all the Light-Heavyweights in the house, etc, etc.
But while those who are all mouth usually get eliminated pretty quickly, the tragic part is he does have the talent to back it up. UFC President Dana White says that in the tryouts for the show, Junie asked him which move Dana would like him to win by - Dana tells him 'Triangle' & true to his word, Junie wins by Triangle pin. He's fascinating to watch but I found myself hoping he wouldn't win as he's clearly set to self-destruct & all that money would no doubt destroy him.
Add to that practical jokes taken way too far & you have a really good series. And that's before we even get to the fights! Those are pretty good too, with a high standard of competitors, including a Ju-Jitsu world champion!
