5.0 out of 5 stars The new Generation of the Football Genre 17 May 2008
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I think this football game has to the best football game so far. What i would like to say is goodbye fifa 08 and pro evolution 08.
When i first recieved news on this game i was in two minds becasue when a big international cup comes up EA introduce a new game. So far the world cup games have been terrible and lackin depth. But i decided to take the chance and spend £40 on release date. I have not been dissapointed. This game features everything and the gameplay is just superb. Also the depth in this game is at a high standard. Its hard to get bored of this game because there are so many modes to play through. The online as well has recieved a newdimension and adds to that Euro feeling. Now online you can play through the official euro 2008. Yes i won mine with the Pols:) it was gr8.

One of the best things which Euro as added is the weather conditions (now feature rain) it looks realistic even more on HD. Also when you score a goal you can customise your celebrations. So if you score that vital winner with the Faroe Islands; just go straight to the fans :D. The fans have also improved, penalties are class. The whole game is at a very high standard. I definetly reccommend this football game to all you football fans out there. Yes England did not qualify but its only a game.

P.s you are looking at the fifa 09 format in this game

I have and love pro evo gameplay but admit that seeing FIFA this year the overall feel looked better than previously yet i resisted.
I had this demo and bought the game immediately - is fantastic, the pro camera is a great addition and captain your team really is engrossing (you have to out score players on your side, either online or CPU to get the captancy and keep it through tournament, nice addition)
Its the graphics and sound, weather and stadiums etc that complete the look - fantastic.
Gameplay is what its all about though and again this comes up trumps.
The AI is very good compared to other footie titles.
Teams do play differently - eg away games against a poor side they will have backs to the wall and defend - not easy to rack up the goals even then.
Commentary is fantastic - andy townsend is the new commentator, seamless and cant think of an annoying repetition or the commentary being out of sync with the gameplay at all - there is usually.

I realise spending £40 3 times a year is a bit much but this is very good game - cant really compare benefits if you have FIFA08 already but if still on Pro Evo and wondering if should then would highly recommend - Pro Evo's not been out the box for 2 weeks now

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better 29 Sep 2008
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
At first glance this looks a very good game.

Lots of options, good achievements, and unique captain your country mode to boot.

But after playing my first tournament with england I won it on pro difficulty so straight away I had to question the difficulty level.

Was it enjoyable? yes to a certain extent it ws, amazing graphics and attention to detail is incredible. Commentary is probably the best of any football game on any console EVER. It really is superb. Some good scrambles in the 18 yard box and fantastic fan detail and singing. But is it as enjoyable as Konamis, admittedly, declining PES game. I would still say no.

EA's game beats PES for graphics, options, detail, commentary, kits, licenses etc etc and all theses things are important, but it still cant compete in the realism stakes. Tackling can be infuriating in Euro 2008 and the shooting system is all at sea at times. Passing short distances is OK but try a long raking ball and it can go basically anywhere it wants. Whereas PES 2008 has awesome playability and some fantastic, close and entertaining games can be had from this.

The captain your county mode from Euro 2008 is refreshing and good for a while, but gets laboured and repetetive after a while and all you end up doing after a while is calling for the ball no matter how far away you are just so you can play which begs the question, why not just play a normal game controlling everyone.

In summary, its a fun game with some good new ideas and if avialble cheap worth a punt, but between this and Pro eVO, STILL HAS TO BE kONAMI FOR ME!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Strange at first but a massive grower. 2 July 2008

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Let me start off by saying that I used to hate all the FIFA games since FIFA 98 (Road to World Cup) and was a massive, massive PES fan. Every year I'd drool over the latest PES and play it to death until the next version came out. This continued all the way up to PES 2008 which I found to be absolutely shocking. My how things have changed. FIFA 08 actually blows PES away on gameplay now aswell as having all the squads, kits and bells & whistles that EA have always had.

Anyway, EURO 2008. I wanted to start off by saying how FIFA 08 is the best football game around on any console just to let people know my feelings on the franchise as a whole. After hammering FIFA 08 since I got it, I raised an eyebrow at Euro 2008. Of course I knew EA would throw out another cash-in for the tournament, but I figured I'd take a look anyway.

The demo on XBox Live is kinda ok but isn't really the best example to go off. When I first played I have to admit I was pretty dissapointed that the gameplay and camera views have been changed since FIFA 08 as to me that was already brilliant as it was. However props to EA for at least making significant changes to the game rather than throwing out FIFA 08 with Euro teams at full price.

After giving the full game a shot and having now played a few games I must say it's an excellent game. Is it better than FIFA 08? Well I'm not sure on that. It's as good for enjoyment value and of course if you want the full Euro tournament game with the better player faces and manager faces etc then you need this game. Overall I couldn't say choose either as both are excellent games in their own right and can be enjoyed together.
