  • Vin Diesel Is The Wheelman: Action film megastar Vin Diesel and his Tigon Studios are again blurring the lines between entertainment mediums, this time collaborating with Midway in the design and production of Vin Diesel: Wheelman to ensure an edge-of-your-seat gaming experience. Diesel's voice and likeness will appear as the game's main character, expert Wheelman Milo Burik.
  • Cinematic Thrill Ride: Vin Diesel: Wheelman delivers rubber-burning, asphalt-churning excitement that will take gamers on a white knuckle thrill ride that unfolds throughout the streets of Barcelona. Featuring car chases inspired by Hollywood's most famous action-sequences, Vin Diesel: Wheelman will deliver powerful cinematic moments throughout the game's compelling storyline.
  • Supermove Stunts: Survive death-defying feats by performing pulse-pounding maneuvers that only an expert Wheelman can pull off. Pull off a Cyclone and spin the vehicle 360 degrees while precision firing at your enemies.
  • More Than Just A Driver: Sideswipe pursuing enemies to get them off your tail, execute devastating maneuvers for maximum motor vehicle carnage, or grab your gun and start blasting right through the windshield.
  • Maximum Mobility: Commandeer a semi truck to leave your mark on the city. Escape down a narrow alleyway on the back of a tricked-out motorcycle. Hop behind the wheel of exclusively licensed vehicles and make your getaway in style.
  • Hit The Pavement: Even the best Wheelman sometimes needs to get out of the vehicle. Take to the Barcelona streets for on-foot action - but make sure to remember your guns.
  • Living, Breathing Barcelona: Set in the exotic location of Barcelona, Spain. This classic European city is densely populated with traffic and pedestrians that react intelligently to your actions as you roam around realistic environments filled with massively destructible objects.

Product Description

Platform: PLAYSTATION 3

Combining spectacular Hollywood-style stunts with a gripping storyline, Wheelman provides an adrenaline-fueled, cinematic thrill ride guaranteed to leave you breathless. Vin Diesel stars as an undercover agent and highly skilled driver who must infiltrate the Barcelona underworld to gather intelligence surrounding a covert heist. Posing as a driver-for-hire, he ends up caught in a crossfire of corruption and chaos while trying to stay one step ahead of local law enforcement and rival gangs.

A Game That Plays Like a Movie
Video games based on movies are not rare, but what is rare is a video game developed to look and play like a movie, and that is exactly what Wheelman is. Featuring the image and voice of action star Vin Diesel as undercover agent and driver for hire Milo Burik, in an entirely digital performance, Wheelman was originally planned as a launching pad for a new movie franchise of the same name. Until then, Wheelman the video game will stand as a brash celebration of car chases and on-screen collisions that do not need a movie to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Open World Gameplay and Wheelman Moves
First and foremost Wheelman is a driving game, but in its open world gameplay universe players can go anywhere, whether behind the wheel or on foot. As with other open world games, action is split between mission play, event and freeplay, with the breakdown working out to about 80% of it taking place behind the wheel or on motorcycles, to 20% while on foot. Also, Wheelman features fully destructible environments, which allows players take advantage of special in-game features, known as 'Wheelman Moves.' Designed to illustrate the game's philosophy which considers vehicles as the ultimate weapons, these features include the Vehicle Melee mode, which allows for quick and devastating vehicle sideswiping attacks; Airjacking, which allows you to jump from car to car w

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply smashing fun! 14 April 2009

I expect all the other reviews describe The Wheelman as a Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3) clone/knockoff... well, I can't say that it isn't. The comparisons are glaring. The Wheelman played by Vin Diesel is called Milo Burik (remarkably similar to Niko Bellic?). I played GTA 4 all the way through and consider it an excellent, 5 star game, clever in so many aspects and very difficult to match. Driving, shooting and criminal escapades in an open-world city (a very empty Barcelona this time) accessed through a PDA map with set missions following a loose story line and a choice of side missions are all obvious similarities. However, having played the game through, I feel that other reviews have been overly harsh.

Introducing "Air-Jack"...witness Vin Diesel actually leaping from a speeding car onto the roof of an equally fast vehicle in front, smashing into the window feet first and booting the driver out, before zooming off again with a minimal drop in speed.

Speed is good! it increases your Power Meter, letting you perform special moves (Boost, Aimed Shot and Cyclone which involves a 360 spin while precision firing). If you drive too slowly, the meter loses power and a message tells you off! Smashing things up is good too. As in the Burnout games (Burnout Paradise (PS3))you can sideswipe your pursuing enemies and get them off your tail with a takedown.

On the down side, the story line lacks sense and missions link together in a rather absurd way with Milo swapping sides with rival gangs so often that it's a wonder he didn't get killed in my confusion.

A free roaming city where you do various missions requiring fast driving and a lot of smashing (intentionally) into other cars. It gets you excited at first with silly moves that let you slow mo spin and shoot, and a simple flick of the analogue sticks rams you into the next car.Problems start when you get out of the car. It aint no shooter, with poor targetting, dumb enemies, crap weapons and strange dancing animations evrytime you hit a guy. The driving loses its sheen once you've gotten over the inital rush of that first chase, and then find chases to be a constant case of who can ram each other the most. Its sometimes hard to complete missions when you get rammed off every exit you have to take to avoid failure.

Perhaps the saving grace of this game would be the side missions (taxi, race etc) if only because it asks you to put effort into finding shortcuts in the open routed world. Dont expect to be playing this after a few short days.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shallow and stupid - but fun 5 Mar 2011
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
It is pretty funny to see how well the developers captured the feel of a Vin Diesel film - bad dialogue, over the top explosives and not a lot of substance. However, the game is pretty fun and it is a welcome relief to have cars that do not behave like they are real.

The game is alright compared to the price. The graphics are abit low but good and 1 one of the biggest problems about this game is that there is no jump button. And the Aiming is solid.

Thank goodness I rented this game instead of buying it. After driving around London in the Getaway, I was so excited that you cant imagine to have a game coming out set in Barcelona, where I live.

Start off with a brief but exciting tutorial to get the hang of things, which is quite good. After that, it just gets old. Sure there are various types of missions, whether recovering stolen cars, motorcycles or driving taxis, it still gets old and repetitive quick.

The second biggest disappointment is the voice acting, Vin Diesel aside. Spain is not Mexico. Period.

And for the biggest disappointment, the representation of Barcelona is the name and a few landmarks only. Even the areas immediately surrounding the landmarks arent correct, and differ completely from the cutscenes.

If you have no idea what Barcelona looks like, you may enjoy this game to the end, but I was just unable to play more than a few hours.
