Product Description

Great Games and Accessories for the PC from Gamesbuyer.

Manufacturer's Description

You've often relied on them in other Tom Clancy games, but for the first time you get to play as an advanced fighter pilot in the most exciting combat flight sim of this generation. Taking the role of a U.S. pilot the game's plot contains elements from both Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 and EndWar as you end up defending the United States from corporate mercenaries.

You start the game as a mercenary yourself, fighting in the Middle East
The F-22 Raptor will have to fight both older planes and brand new prototypes
Play with and against friends in the online multiplayer modes
Dogfighting above mainland America is a stunning experience

Although it features plenty of realistically modelled aircraft and other military vehicles this is an accessible, fast paced arcade action game - not a stuffy simulator. You'll engage dozen of bogeys at a time and never have to worry about running out of missiles, let alone targets.

The unique Enhanced Reality System (ERS) allows you to customise the difficultly level however you want, with a set of pilot assists that let you give control of things like radar, damage control and anti-stall measures to the computer. Or you can simply take control of everything yourself and prove yourself the real top gun.

Key Features
  • Xrossover: The first flight sim to be set in the Tom Clancy universe, where you actually provide fire support for one of the missions from Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.
  • Autopilot: Enhanced Reality System handles everything from damage control and incoming missiles to crash prevention and squad commands, so you can get on with the piloting.
  • Wingman: Four player co-operative mode lets you create your own virtual squadron of friendly pilots as you collaborate and compete online.
  • World tour: Stunning graphics simulate over 12,000 square kilometres of realistically modelled land - from Chicago and New England in the U.S., to Rio, Chile and the Middle East.
  • Plane choice: Over 60 licensed aircraft from the F-22 Raptor and Eurofighter to Russian fighters and experimental prototypes - all with fully customisable weapon payloads.
About the Developer: Ubisoft Romania
Based in Bucharest, this was the first Ubisoft studio to be established outside of France. It specialises in simulations such as submarine series Silent Hunter and flight sims Blazing Angels and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. The company also distributes other publisher's products within Romania.

After Prince of Persia and End War, this is the third major Ubisoft retail release to come out protected not by any intrusive yet ineffective DRM scheme but simply by gamers' honor. And, on top of that, it is a very good game.

There hasn't been a similar game released for some time now: simplified arcade-like action with easy controls, breath-taking cinematics and impressive graphics - that will run in full even in mid-range PC systems. My advice: as with any flight combat game, using a joystick will make things so much more enjoyable and intuitive.

If you are more of an authenticity buff (and still have tons of free time to spare) I would advise going with a combat AddOn for Flight Simulator or a good old JANE'S title. You will find no realistic cockpit and detailed controls in H.A.W.X. So, is this flight combat game dummied down? Well, yes. But I promise you: you will have FUN like never before!

Hammerheading over cityscapes and coming in from the Sun over the desert has never been more easy to master. The electronic aids and bare-minimum controls will let you enjoy the fights and start mastering them early on.

This is a 4star game but I decided to give it full marks just because the Canadians at UBISOFT keep walking the narrow path towards a DRM-free future. It cannot be easy to take such bold decisions during such a tight economy. They deserve our support.

First of all, I'm no big realistic-flight sim player. The main thing that persuaded my to buy this game after trying out the demo was the graphics, the arcade style action and the fact that I didn't have to spend hours reading a manual. The graphics are far better than any I've seen in similair games so far. I enjoyed nearly all the single-player levels. There were only a couple of levels that bored or frustrated me. After finishing the admittedly quite disappointing final level I was very much looking forward to the multiplayer game. Sadly, trying to connect to servers is very frustrating and only works occasionally. I've got a very good internet connection but kept having the error messages which have been talked about elsewhere.
If you're a casual gamer who doesn't need totally realistic flight behaviour, I would recommend this game. However, if you buy it primarily for the multiplayer game, you'll need LOTS of patience. Because of the server problems I haven't decided on whether to get Hawx 2, yet. Altogether, I'd say: Go for it!

This game is top quality, really good fun single player, and fantastic with a joystick. The only complaint I have is the Online Multiplayer system designed my Ubisoft simply does not function.

It hasn't been fixed since release, and the fact that Ubisoft have at no point claimed to be working on the problem seems to mean they are ignoring this completely!

However, playing using a program such as Hamachi, or Garena (programs that create a virtual LAN network between you and others on the internet) the multiplayer gameplay is just as good as the singe player missions. Co-op mode is also fantastic, and works very well.

I recommend the game, but for those who want to play with others I would say hold back until Ubisoft fix this serious flaw, or be prepared to sign up with Garena (where it is popular, and free) and download Hamachi if you want to play with specific friends.

To expand on my heading, this is a GAME! Not an attempt at a real-life reality flight simulator ( which I also play - see Over Flanders Fields - a splendid WW1 airsim ).
This release does what it says on the tin - an aircraft-based flight game!If you take it as presented, it absolutely excels in fun. Top Gun for the noughties. Just don't come in expecting to manage your cannon ripple-time, avoid G-LOC, watching for bingo fuel, Blue-on-Blue incidents, high-alpha manouevres and so on! It ain't Lock On! It comes full of stuff to do in singleplayer ( not tried MP yet ), achievements to get, level up & so on. Graphically it's absolutely bang on top form; my OK-ish PC can run it maxed out - no slideshow framerates here. The PC coders did their work well. NO dodgy Console-to-PC port, no! I've not seen any crashes / glitches / weird bugs yet ( I have applied the one patch released, but the game was A-OK before that too).
For me, it's the best air-fun in a long time! I hope it's not the last!
There's fun in them thar skies!

I liked the demo of HAWKS so i decided to get the real game on the pc. the goods things are that the graphics are sensational and the range of weapons and airplanes you get are impressive my best being the F-22 raptor. However the shortfall overshadows the game. it seems that the game fires weapons randomly without you input. At first i thought it was my faulty controller but i use my controller for other games and have no problems with it at all. The campaign mode is short as well. i finished the game in 5-6 hours. Since this is now an old title there is no one online so really you are playing this game for campaign mode only so its good its cheap. the storyline is also weak and it could have been better. You find the game gets a bit routine-defend this and escort that. On conclusion not the best plane game and no real complaints because its cheap.
