Shadowbane is a GvG game (guild versus guild). It probably has the most complicated character advancement system in any MMORPG to date, although you have character classes, there are hundreds of possible combinations of skills that you can chose for your character (not like DaoC for example, where almost all classes are limited to three or so skill choices). Leveling is very very fast (get max level in a week once you know what your doing). Leveling is not the point of the game, the point is finding a group of players to settle down with, and to enjoy the pvp aspect of the game (outside of certain safezones, anyone can attack anyone else). Hardcore gamers will love shadowbane, Carebear gamers may be intimidated. Take it with a pinch of salt (also bear in mind you will probably gimp your first character, but it doesn't matter because you will learn a lot going through it the first time, and re-rolling and leveling your character is so easy anyway) Give it a go and see what you think, if you find it hard to begin with, dont give up straight away, persist a bit and see where you end up, the end of the game is (as always) the best part, so try to experience it!

This is my first MMORPG(Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game)and i am loving it.
First you choose your name, then race (elf, human, etc. dont want to spoil things)then class(rogue, mage and more)you then get promoted from this class to another chosen class, then choose what skills you want to master. For example, you might want to be an elf, who uses bow, and then at level 10, promote to a ranger or scout + more
When you first start of, you can chose your world and city. For european people i reccommend Vengeance Wolrd, because it is for europeans, and then chose the city 'Hothor's Doom'. Hothor's Doom is on newbie island, a whole island with low'ish level computer controlled enemys. You will meet many newbies here, and make groups with them to gain levels. You cannot be killed by other players on this island. When you think you are ready for mainland, you can warp there. Once there, you can either join a guild, or make a guild, or go solo(usually thieves are solo). Each guild has a city with shops, trainers etc. Other guilds can propose war on your guild, and then your in for a heck of a ride... siege weapons, hundreds of mobs and players and more.
I will not spoil any more, i reccomend you try the free 15 day trial at www.shadowbane.com to see if you like it. After the 15 days you are given an option to change to a subscribing player, and if you do want to, buy the game and then subscribe!
.
Have Fun, and maybe i will see you there!

In my opinion its one of the best mmorpgs out at the moment and i have played Star wars galaxies, Anarchy Online, Ultima Online, Neocron, Dark Age of Camelot etc and theres just something about Shadowbane that stands out.

Races: Very cool looking and a nice mixture of them (Half Giants are awsome :-) )
Graphics: Not the best but the gameplay makes up for it
Player vs Player system: One of the few games to really encourage this, this is what makes Shadowbane unique. It almost feels like Ultima online before they made the new land. The guild wars are really awsome :-), PKing from what ive seen so far isnt that bad, you may bump into one every now and then but if your in a group your fine. Haha it normally ends up with the groups PKing the PK. very funny.

Leveling in the game is simple, its not annoying like in SWG where how much damage you deal to the monster effects the experiance you get. you can sit around and gain exp away but i wouldnt recomend doing that for too long or you might be kicked from the group, they dont like lazy players :-) but in a group of friends you might be ok. lol. Ive played for over a week of this and ive reached lvl 50 already (75 is max) so jumping right into the guild vs guild war stuff doesnt take too long. that really annoyed me in other games that i couldnt lend a hand because i was so far behind in levels.

ahhh i could go on forever. Just try the game ok :-) its only £10! and you get the expansion with it(which is fun new area to goto with mates)

Oh and the bugs in the game are not as bad as most people say. Less bugs than SWG has. and less lag than SWG!!
