Fun:
I have been playing flight simulators since the old ATARI 1040 ST days and this has to be amongst the top five of all time. Very intuitive game play and menu systems. Controls are very responsive offering all the usual customization possibilities. Graphics are excellent and they more than match any other combat flight sims that I own. Great choice of planes and combat theatres covering standard airfield landing/take off to complexed carrier take off and landings. Missions are plentiful and when you have mastered them you can move into the world of on line gaming. You can customise difficulty settings to allow you to develop your skills at your own pace. A great purchase that I am very happy with.

Fun:
I have bought and just about instantly sold every flight simulator I have ever bought for my PC. I crave the perfect flight sim and to date have never found anything even close to the IL2 series. Infact the only thing I have noticed that I would ever rate higher is Wings of Prey's ground and landscape graphics which are almost photographic. It is a shame that is all that is good about Wings of Prey. However IL2 never fails to impress with a huge range of planes and realistc flight comntrols, it is easy to update and overall I can promise you 100% there is no better flight simulator available to date. Start your engines, join your side and off you go.......

Fun:
Whether after a combat simulation for pure action and dog fighting or just to admire the realism of the flying, this game is pure genius at providing all the pilots needs. The aircraft receive accurate damage from both Anti-Aircraft fire and aircraft machine guns which render true onto the actual airframe in some instance resulting in your aircraft being impossible to fly. The cockpit is fully active with the dials and indicators reading true to your height, heading, altitude and artificial horizon.
One of the best features to this game is that the realism settings are customizable to suit the player, whether you are a pilot or not. With intense tutorials you too can learn to fly like some of the aces. There is also a large amount of skins and mods that can be downloaded, I made an entire squadron of p-51s from RAF debden during ww2 take to the skies with each aircraft having the individual nose arts and paint schemes unique to the pilots,yes this was awe inspiring.
The scenary is pretty good considering when this game was made, It is far superior to that of the base game (without add-ons) of FSX and at low altitudes offers much beauty as well as a destructible environment.
My only real issue with the game is that some of the Luftwaffe aircraft gun sights are not actually calibrated with the machine guns/cannons and so I found myself aiming to the side of the gun sights, this can be corrected by downloading new and different cockpit skins for them.

DONT BUY if you have vista 64
