Product Description

With crime lord Charles Jericho now on the loose San Francisco faces a terrible threat. Only one man can stand against him. He has driven the streets of a hundred cities, spent his whole life putting criminals behind bars. But to take Jericho down, there can be no turning back, and he knows that this may very well be his last ride. His name is John Tanner. He is the Driver.

Developed by Ubisoft Reflections, creators of the original title, Driver: San Francisco is the return of the established action driving video game series that has sold 14 million copies worldwide. Gamers play John Tanner, a hardened detective involved in a relentless hunt throughout the City by the Bay. Thanks to a groundbreaking gameplay feature, players can now seamlessly shift between more than a hundred licensed vehicles, keeping them constantly in the heart of the action. With its timeless atmosphere, unique car handling and renewed playability, Driver: San Francisco offers the free-roaming, classic, cinematic car chase experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun despite some quirks 9 April 2012
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii| Edition:Standard Edition|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This isn't the same game as the PS3 or XBox versions - and is no worse off for it. Owning a Wii, you'll expect that the graphics are less stunning at a lower resolution, but what matters here is gameplay and this Driver has it in spades. As much fun as the original PC version.

Playing in Story mode sees you acting out the backstory to the original Driver game, with the main character, Tanner, driving undercover to infiltrate San Francisco's gangs. Once you've overcome the bizarre control mechanism, which takes an hour or so, it becomes second nature and won't annoy. A second player can join in the main missions, acting as a shooter but this does make some of the missions almost too easy.

There are a fun variety of 2- to 4-player "party play" modes for a quick game, and plenty of side missions to complement the main story.

Not a technical masterpiece, but loads of fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Driving Game on the Wii 2 Sept. 2011
By Blerg
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Driver San Francisco on the Wii is simply a great game. The great gameplay and style of the original Driver, with dozens of varied missions and excellent mechanics tailored to the Wii. The single player story has hours of fun, with loads of extra stuff to do exploring the huge open world even once you've finished the story missions. There's also a lot of Split Screen co-op and competitive multiplayer modes which are a blast to play with friends or family. It may not be as fancy as its HD equivalents, but its every bit as good a game. I heartily recommend this game to any Wii owners and Driver fans alike.
