Amazon.co.uk Review

CSI comes to life on your PC with all the cyber-Sherlock Holmes appeal fans know and love. The high production value of the game and its faithful adherence to the theme, style, and sound of the show prove that its not just a crass attempt to cash in on the CSI craze.

As you'd expect, CSI is a mystery adventure game that follows the format of the show. You collect evidence, head to the lab, visit the morgue and so on. You scrutinise the game's screens, looking for evidence or areas that may contain hidden clues. You can use Luminal to find blood traces, you can dust for prints, and you can use the sniffer to get gas samples--all are familiar tools and methods used in the show. CSI fans will likely intuitively know when and where to use each item while adventure game fans will delight in having such new, high tech toys.

CSI offers five quality storylines, each of which would feel at home on the show. While you don't get to fill the shoes of one of the show's well-known characters, you do get to work with each of them as you progress along the CSI investigative chain. Show characters join you to provide hints and help you establish the motive, means, and opportunity needed to determine and catch the bad guy.

Fans of the show will forgive the short length of the game and merely adequate graphics just because of the quality storylines, use of the real actors, and respect shown the license. Adventure game fans will also appreciate it, even if they'll find it a bit too easy (it's aimed at mainstream fans more than hardcore gamers). CSI brings enough true crime class to be of interest to everyone. --Andrew S Bub

Product Description

In CSI: Crime Scene Investigation you become a CSI agent working alongside Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows and the rest of the CSI Las Vegas team. As a member of the team you question witnesses, examine crime scenes, and analyse evidence using the latest forensic equipment. All eight cast members provided their voices and likenesses for the game--their in-game counterparts look and sound just like the characters in the show. Digital artists used pictures of CSI sets to perfectly recreate the labs and offices of the show. The script was written by Max Allan Collins, author of three CSI novels and the bestselling book Road to Perdition. Ubi Soft Entertainment consulted Las Vegas Senior Crime Scene Analyst Daniel Holstein to validate the accuracy of the CSI forensics referenced in the game. This is as real as it gets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be a CSI, 28 Sep 2003
This review is from: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Video Game)
This game gives you a chance to help solve 5 crimes. Your partner changes each case so you get to work with all the members of the team, starting with Grissom himself. Brass, Greg and Al are also there to help you.

The game comes on 3 discs and this is reflected in the quality of the graphics and details.

A nice touch is that the show's stars all allowed their voices and likenesses to be used.

I really liked the fact that I was actually able to complete CSI (as I usually get hopelessly stuck at some point in this type of game), but if you are a big gaming fan it will probably only take you a couple of hours to complete.

For fans of the show, it's a great way to get nearer the action.

So, if you're a fan either of the show or just crime solving and forensics who is just starting out on computer games, or likes short games, don't miss this.

5.0 out of 5 stars CSI Reality Comes to the PC, 23 May 2003

This review is from: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Video Game)
What can you say about this game.
It recreates the characters perfectly along with their mannerisms and personalities. The voices are provided by the cast of the hit TV show (Crime Scene Investigators).

There are five cases to be solved, each with varying degree of difficulty. As you go through the cases, the level of difficulty increases, as your knowledge does so too.

Everything is there; Luminol to find hidden blood stains, UV Lamp to highlight bruises etc. finger print search and collection tools, and much more.

This software is an absolute must for all csi fans, and you will try to improve your rating (graded on your performance after each case) so as to see more of the bonus materials that come available with better scores, and these bonus materials are well worth attaining.

Only one word for this TV to PC game - excellent.

Let us hope that Ubisoft release another series of crimes from csi for us all to try to solve.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game, with just one downfall, 23 Jun 2003
This review is from: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Video Game)
Well, it comes on three discs. It has five crimes to solve, and it comes with a plethoria of items to use to help you to solve them.

Throughout the game you will become familiar with the tools and what to do with them. While you are on each scene a CSI agent is there to offer advice, but if you ask for it you will not be able to get that 100% needed for all the bonus material.

The downside is that the game is too short. Once you have solved the crime, then getting 100% is easy. They should have waited a while and added more crimes to solve onto it.

But all in all it is a very good game, if you are a fan of this genre then do as i did and go and buy this game.
