Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Renaissance Italy isn't the usual sort of setting for a video game, but then Assassin's Creed isn't one to play by the rules. Ezio Auditore di Firenze is yet another ancestor of modern day Desmond Miles - a nobleman out to avenge the death of his family in the guise of a shadowy assassin.

Ezio is just as dangerous an assassin as his forebear
Da Vinci's glider is just one of the gadgets on offer
The level of detail in the graphics is astonishing
The canals of Venice come in very handy for stealth attacks

Like the last game you're given total freedom to explore multiple cities, but with greatly improved parkour skills and the new ability to swim. There's also a lot more variety in the missions you undertake - the main complaint with the original game- so you'll never feel you're just doing the same tasks over and over again.

Combat has also been completely overhauled, with dozens of different weapons and a new health system. With no less than Leonardo da Vinci acting as your very own Q style gadget master this stunning sequel improves on every element of the original.

Key Features
  • Renaissance man: Play as an all-new character in 15th century Italy, with new abilities, new weapons and a whole new world to explore.
  • The spice of life: Massively improved mission variety, with new freeform mission structures and many more random events.
  • Tools of the trade: All-new combat system lets you steal weapons from your opponents, use dual hidden blades and even an early form of pistol.
  • Real history: Meet historical figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolò Machiavelli and Lorenzo de' Medici, all of whom can offer you their own unique brand of aid.
  • Tourist spots: Explore real world locations including Rome, Venice, Florence and Tuscany, as well as specific landmarks such as the Grand Canal and St Mark's Basilica.

Although my macbook pro is 2.4 ghz with 2 gb ram, the game works good with some bugs sometimes. Anyway, the game is excellent, we can play even if we have to wait sometimes.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE 23 Jan 2012

YOU NEED AN INTERNET CONNECTION TO PLAY. EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO PLAY.

Just the above should be enough for everyone to boycott Ubisoft and any game that uses this pig-headed method of copy protection, which DOES NOT WORK to protect anything. The Mac version was available online cracked within a few weeks of its release.

You can avoid the internet connection requirement by using a little program called AC 2 Cracked Launcher (Mac), to be found on the internet. This is not illegal if you have already bought the game.

HOWEVER, this game is just not worth playing on the Mac, because of lack of gamepad support> even external USB keyboard/mouse support is buggy.

This Mac version is a frigging joke.

NO XBOX360 controller support. I have tried everything, including Gamepad Companion which works on everything else... The game seem to have some buggy USB drivers.

CRAP EXTERNAL USB KEYBOARD SUPPORT and USB mouse support : both flakey, connection often drops and you have to quit and re-launch the game . The game seems unable to let you use both the laptop keyboard and an external keyboard at the same time.

Which is irrelevant anyway, as THIS GAME IS NOT PLAYABLE with a mouse and keyboard. If you go ahead and buy this, when you get to the part when you have to chase some thief through the city you will remember these words.

The interface and controls are terrible , very hard to get used to, too many buttons, no visual feedback on which actual key to press for the multitude of actions you can perform.

This Mac version is just buggy and hastily put together to sell.

The game blows in so many ways... cut scenes that cannot be skipped, with out-of-sync voices, dialogues that cannot be exited... Another case of "great graphics, but I can't be bothered with this..."

Firstly let me start by saying that there's been a lot of complaining about this Mac title so I was a little hesitant about taking the plunge.
Problem?
Well for some its the DRM that makes to be attached to the internet for as long as you play. What this actually means is very simply you create an account with ubisoft who then 'lock' your account with the right to play the game from any computer (once you log in that is). This means that you dont need to run the DVD ROM but need to stay on the internet to be allowed to play. i have found NO PROBLEM with this. Even when i close the MBP lid for a break and return to the game the link is re-established without having to restart the game. (you do get a pause until it does relink).

The other problem people have encountered is the need for a powerful Mac to play it natively and that the game won't run on a mac laptop. It is true that you need a powerful Mac but it is UNTRUE that you can't play it on a laptop.
I am playing this on an early 2011 MacBook Pro 15" Quadcore 2GHz / 8GB RAM / 256MB AMD Radeon HD 6490M.
It plays superbly on medium settings but for smoothness i did have to change to resolution to lower setting.

I have tried it on the Intel HD Graphics 3000 and it will run but you will have to knock down ALL the settings to low and use the lowest resolution and even with that it might stutter a bit.

I have actually got used to playing the game using the MBP keyboard and trackpad and i have found it plays fantastic. Just re-map the keys (as im left handed my right hand use the cursor keys to control Ezio) and you ar away. You can also add a mouse and change the settings to include 2,3,4 or 5 buttoned mouse.

If you have a mac with a dedicated graphic of 256MB or more then it should run fine for you - with a 1GB graphic card it will fly.
Brilliant game - buy it.
