Format:Audio CD
Gosh, this is fifteen years old . . . and it hasn't aged. Where The Orb got it so right is in the solidity of sound. There is so much of this 'ambient dance' stuff from 1992-ish which is nothing better than car boot sale or charity shop fodder now: it sounded ok at the time, but lacked the polish to survive. But it's not true of this album (or the ones either side of it).
Anyone who loved this album should not worry about hearing it again, or upgrading, simple as that (note that the Amazon cover is for the booklet - the actual cover is reproduced from the original.)
I've docked a star only for the content of the second disc. In fact it's a shame that three discs couldn't have been included, like they were with the 'Adventures betond the Ultraworld' deluxe edition, the third disc was the best of all. The UFOrb extra disc is a little like an alternative version of the main album, and is OK in itself. I really enjoyed the different versions of 'Close encounters' and 'Majestic' - much more atmospheric and beefier than the originals (I always thought the album tailed off after 'Towers of Dub', but even so, there's a great gag at the end . . . the album quite literally goes down the plug hole!). It would have been more useful to have the long version of 'Blue Room', and the 'Another live version' of 'Assassin', which was a marvellous track - a sort of mickey-take of 'rave' - than the versions of 'Towers of dub', Blue room' and 'Oobe'. I don't want to give the impression it's not a decent second disc, just not as good as it might have been - we are usually so spolied by these deluxe editions!
'UFOrb' is still a great, entertaining listen.

The album itself is a masterpiece and the remastering is fine.
The tracklisting of the second disc is fine too - a nice surprise to have some previously unreleased ambient mixes of album tracks.
However it is a shame that "Towers Of Dub (Ambient Mix)" on disc two has been mastered from vinyl with extremely loud surface noise. Since this track was included on the first "Ambient Senses" compilation CD (not mastered from the 12"), there is no excuse for that.
Also, the "Ambient Demo at Mark Angelos" mix of "Blue Room" only makes sense when it segues into the "O.O.B.E." version of the same session. This version has not been included, so that the track starts with the loud tom toms to be heard at the end of the aforementioned "O.O.B.E." mix which is a bit of a shock. Why not include the "Excerpt 606"? Basically a "complete" version of the Mark Angelos Mix with a nice beginning.

I just want to echo the previous two reviewers in stressing that this was definitely a missed opportunity to mop up all the missing single tracks and throw them onto a third disk. Why the 40 minute version of Blue Room is missing is a total mystery, that track is MANDATORY. I still haven't heard Mad Professor's mix of Towers of Dub nor Bandulu's version of U.F.Orb, and I love(d)Bandulu! 5 stars for the music that's here, but 1 star docked for the package: this falls short of "deluxe".

There was a two disc pressing of the original album which has the 40 minute Blue Room, I have it.

Where's the 40 minute Blue Room?!
A Deluxe Edition of UFOrb should contain the 40 minute version of Blue Room.

UF - Orb review
if they'd included the a DVD version of the "Patterns & Textures" video this Deluxe edition would have taken pride of place in my 90's ambient collection
