Product Description

Selected by the worlds most knowledgeable and well-connected graphicdesign commentator, Steven Heller, this survey gets into the minds of designers who create typefaces, word-images and logos through their private sketchbooks. Arranged by designer, it reveals how nearly 120 of the worlds leading designers and typographers continually strive to find new and exciting ways of communicating through letters and words, and provides fascinating insights into their work. Aimed at all those who use type, whether by hand or on screen, this revealing compendium stresses the importance of good typography at a time when reading habits are changing, and celebrates a craft that has endured for centuries. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Visual thinking 16 Nov 2011
Format:Hardcover
I opened this book at random in a bookshop and was blown away by the work of Tom Geismar. I then began to flip through it and found that it was a goldmine of ideas. To see the preliminary work of all these designers gives one an glimpse of their working methods and an entree into alternative ways of unlocking visual problems. As an educational too or just a source of pleasure it has the 'Wow' factor.
