The outer shell is painted enamel and it's an ideal size for the kitchen worktop before the waste goes into the outdoor compost. The inner container is a quite strong plastic with a wire carry handle which is ideal as it can be washed out after each use and the outer shell does not get contaminated.
Inside the lid is a carbon filter which stops any smells and to replace you can use a cooker hood filter and cut it to shape instead of buying the purpose made filter.
Its a well made product and after b6 months of use I'm happy with the product and would recommend it.

Having dropped previous china pot decided for something in steel. This model looks neat by sink and does job. The internal plastic 'bucket' with wire lifting handle saves on using bin liners although you could cram more in if you discarded this and simply placed a bag directly in the bin. Carbon filter in lid reduces smells. All in all - like it!
