Product Description

Sherston's Type with Tizzy is a highly interactive program designed to help children develop keyboard familiarity and competence - and have fun in the process!

With help from Tizzy the magical clown, children work through the carefully structured activities, each one helping them to gain a greater understanding of the functions and layout of the keyboard.

Amusing animations, combined with repetition and positive reinforcement, ensure that young children using Type with Tizzy remain engaged and motivated throughout.

Here's a sample of some of the 19 focused activities:

Tizzy in Goal - children must correctly type the displayed key in order to score a goal against Tizzy.

Sack Race(shown in screenshot) - encourages placement and use of two hands on the keyboard. Children must find and type the displayed letter before time runs out, to move TIzzy and Rocky forward in the race

Jigkeys - sections of the keyboard are missing and children must re-assemble them, like jigsaw puzzles.

Rescue Bluey - Bluey the budgie has escaped. Children must use the arrow keys to move Tizzy around the screen until she is close enough to catch Bluey.

Practise - Tizzy provides children with various pieces of text to copy, to help develop speed and accuracy. Children can print a copy of what they type.

Guess the Key - children choose a key to hide from Tizzy. Tizzy then ask the children a series of questions about the hidden key. The idea is to develop and use key vocabulary.

Comprehensive help feature within each activity to support your child.

This is a highly impressive program. A worthy addition for any primary school, parent or homeschool. It can be networked or stand alone or used with a whiteboard. iI is age 4-7 and that is about right. The visuals are non fussy and all keys are introduced in a fun and lively game. It is very suitable for Special Educational Needs (I build on my Son's strengths in this are) and great for visual learners.

The visuals are unclutted, there are no really loud noises, and the little exercises can be pre-set to a certain number so a child can't get "hooked" on one bit.

I am now looking at other titles by the writer (Pauline Eccles) who really has got this right. I have tried other typing programs which were aimed at this age group and they were way above most children's heads and expected far too much.

I am certain you will not be disappointed with this product - I was so impressed for the little amount it costs.
