Book Description

1 Aug 2011
When Quin Woodward Pu—a straight-A Asian-American extrovert from Georgia with a penchant for vodka, designer shoes, and older men—receives her acceptance letter from Johns Hopkins Medical School, she is forced to make a decision between giving up her hard-partying, man-eating ways and continuing her fabulous VIP lifestyle and pursuing a more glitzy and glamorous career. Type A+ is the memoir of her transition from MCAT-teaching pre-med free clinic volunteer to directionless, yet fabulous and resourceful, freelance writer. Like many Asian-Americans, she butts heads with her first-generation Chinese father when she strays from his life plan for her to attend a top medical program. She is encouraged by her histrionic but loyal friends—from an undiagnosed alcoholic roommate, to a bohemian BFFL, to a middle-aged playboy dermatologist boyfriend —to follow her champagne-soaked dreams of becoming a journalist.

This book is terrible, I only needed 4 words but this insists on more so I find myself putting filler words.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hopeless 27 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I too was given this as a present and at first thought it was a joke. I then googled the author and thought wow, is she living in lah lah land or what !
The writing is infantile and there is no real substance to the book nor, anything noteworthy or earth shattering that has ever happened to her. Stupid is stupid and average is average and we can all relate to that but, I dont need to waste time reading about it.
She is short sighted, vain and so full of herself that it is a positive thing that she did not attend medical school as I would not want her near me if I were sick. As to her lifestyle she lives in a delusional world that is finite yet she thinks is top notch. She has a long way to go for that.
Don't waste your money, time or energy on this or, if you do, leave it as reading in the 'smallest room in the house' as I now have.

It all started two weeks ago, when I saw this random self-published book. It seemed legitimate enough, but annoyingly and sloppily written, which is why I offered the email address of a decent copy-editor to the author. I tried to read it again later that weekend, over a few drinks, which eventually turned to dinner, and then champagne. Even being pissed as newt couldn't improve this turd for me. The author told me, "I kinda have chemistry with pretty much everyone, because I really like talking incessantly at people about myself, and screwing over complete strangers..."

I didn't invite her to my birthday party, which I'm holding this weekend for my closest million friends... When we parted that day, I didn't think much of her. In fact, I thought she was a ghastly vile harridan with a hilariously overstated opinion of her worth as a human being. #timesbeing

So imagine my surprise - which quickly turned to fury - when I attempted to read more of her book out of the blue yesterday. She said to me, "FYI I have done absolutely no editing on this book." Then she put a bunny rabbit into a boiler and started laughing maniacally as I attempted to edge out of her awful, awful life. AVOID QUIN WOODWARD PU AT ALL COSTS!

Idiotic self absorbed rumblings from this pig faced "author". No wonder a real publisher would not go near this vile bilge.
