Perry explores the intricacies of long-term romantic relationships in TYLER PERRY’S WHY DID I GET MARRIED? The film opens a window onto the lives of four couples, all best friends from college, who vacation together annually. The circle includes Patricia (Janet Jackson), a respected psychologist and best-selling author who is happily wed to architect Gavin (Malik Yoba); Dianne (Sharon Leal), an ambitious attorney whose workaholic habits have left her with little time for her pediatrician husband, Terry (Tyler Perry); as well as Angela (Tasha Smith) and Marcus (Michael Jai White), who bicker constantly but remain very much in love. The most vulnerable of the group is Sheila (Jill Scott), a sweet woman who devoted to her husband Mike (Richard T. Jones), despite his merciless jokes about her weight. As the couples gather in a cozy Colorado mountain cabin, tensions bubble to the surface and secrets come spilling out – leaving each couple to re-assess the state of their unions.

I saw the premier of this film last week and can not wait until part 2 is available. It is excellent, funny, fast paced, moving, detail to lighting, sound etc. the characters are believable, either someone you know or yourself. It is a must, just make sure you get part one as well.

What makes this movie enjoyable to me, is that it successfully maintains a delicate balance between drama, romance and humor. The lives of the four couples in this movie are like movies unto themselves, all of them nicely intertwined, and all the more convincing because it is clear the actors had fun, playing their respective parts. And this movie is a little more than mere entertainment, as it does invite you to ponder the question that forms the title of this movie: why did I get married?

Really liked this movie it was not the typical movie and had a nice mix of comedy and drama. It was a mix of emotions. However!! If you think this one is good then you need to see ''Why did I get married too''!!! (Out in cinemas in the UK) Tyler Perry stepped is game up. It is well written and will engage and audience to laugh, hurt and cry with the character!!
This is more than 'black entertainment' this one is a must see and '...too' is the cheery on top of the cake!
