Product Description

Twootz Mealworm Fat Balls are blended from beef fat, sunflower seeds, wheat, calcium and dried mealworms to provide a high calorie, nutritious source of food for many different species of wild bird. The ingredients used in these wild bird fat balls include wheat, a staple food for several different wild birds particularly the struggling Housesparrow, sunflower seeds, a source of high energy natural oil, beef fat, a concentrated, high energy food source suitable for many species of wild bird, and dried mealworms, packed with protein. Along with a natural source of added calcium for healthy bones and eggs these fat balls will help a wide variety of wild birds survive through harsh Winters, and busy Spring/Summerbreeding seasons. The best way to feed these fat balls is in specialist fat ball feeders, that hold several balls at a time and which should then be hung from garden bushes, trees, feeding stations or bird tables. However if you want to add a high energy boost to other wild bird foods try breaking up these fat balls and adding to seed mixes or peanuts fed from bird tables or the ground. Please note, occasionally (due to carriage and the fragile nature of the product) it can be common for up to 10% of fat balls to be broken at the bottom of the box, but don't worry as the birds still eat them all the same. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and our team is always here to help with any enquiries or concerns you may have. All comments (positive or negative) are very much appreciated as it allows us to make improvements to our services and we would be very grateful if any complaints can be made via email/telephone so that we are able to action these accordingly. These items arrived quickly and mainly intact, there were very few dried out and crumbled balls in the box although be warned they will start to crumble if the balls getting too warm and then cool again. I have gone through 5 a week of these and they seem to appeal to all our garden birds, we've had the usual blue tits, great tits, chaffinches, sparrows and even a robin scoffing these. No waste either there doesn't seem to be any fillers in these so it's all scoffed and anything that falls on the ground is hoovered up by the dunnocks!

I found these fat balls really good as I have a squirrel proof feeder and don't need the netted ones. Good value for money and they were fresh and wrapped in plastic liner and cardboard box. They don't smell and the birds really love them. They attract a great variety of birds. I've even had a great spotted woodpecker feeding her baby them.

Really cheap (pardon the pun) they have bugs in them which the birds adore, they don't crumble too much. If mice are an issue you will need a large container as they come in a box.

As has been said birds really do love them. We have 3 different fat ball feeders and they hold a total of 12 and all types of birds get on them. There have been Blue tits, Sparrows[Dunnocks?}and now Starlings have found them, even a Greater Spotted Woodpecker. We also get a lot of Green Parakeets trying to get on them as well as the nut and seed feeders. On the grass beneath them picking up the bits are Wood Pigeons, Magpies, Crows, Collared Doves, Blackbirds and a Robin.

They arrived quickly and I love the fact that I don't have to remove the nets. The birds REALLY like them, I could put out a dozen a day and they would be gone but that would be too expensive so they get about 5 or 6 - which are gone by lunchtime. Helps that they are soft I suppose but the birds definitely give their tweet of approval!
