I bought a scanner on eBay about a year ago, but had never really mastered it, partly because of infrequent use, but also because I never had an understanding of basic concepts, despite reading the manual. This book is good value at Amazon prices and has given me much greater clarity about what the scanner can do and how to use it. I follow endurance sports cars and can now find and follow the teams much more easily than before. A good and easy read.

An Ok book but I have not really used it as limited information applicable to the UK. I originally purchased as my brother and I had purchased a set of the BaoFeng UV-5R Plus* UV 5R+ Dual-Band 136-174/400-480 MHz FM Ham Two-way radios from amazon for general communication whilst in the outdoors (fishing and walking) and as emergency communications should either society break-down (unlikely I know but could happen) or with the emergency services should the mobile cell network be not working (no valid signal) whilst out and about. To this end the information in the book is of little use : no/little information on UK general free to use frequencies (no licence required). little information on emergency frequency's used in the UK (frequencies to avoid UNLESS you require emergency assistance. I was also looking information on the law and UK general frequency list again little or no information. So generally a little disappointing
