The only problem is, Abby needs a husband in order to fulfil the required criteria for living on Ronansay. Undeterred in her quest, she enlists her best friend Kenny (Paul Kaye) to play the part and move with her and the kids to the remote Scottish isle to begin a new life. However, keeping up the charade isnt easy, especially when Abby arouses the interest of the local salmon farmer, and it looks like he may not be the only man whod like to be more than just friends...

I really like this series so I bought all three. I saw this series on the public broadcasting system in the U.S. I found it really touching. Very enjoyable. I even bought a code-free DVD player so I could watch the zone-2 DVDs. (U.S. uses zone-1 DVDs).

this is an easy viewing dvd it allows you to relax and enjoy a different lifesytle but for all those people who are townies then it also allows you to acces a different way of living mainly through the funny views of kenny. this show did bnot really cover new ground but used successful ideas and developed them in their own way. a good and pleasing watch

Warm and fluffy TV,

I recently rediscovered this series having holidayed at the village where it was filmed last year. It's the sort of TV I like, as I'm generally a sucker for quirky Celtic programmes. Not anywhere near as good as classic stuff like Hamish MacBeth or Ballykissangel, but still very watchable, and is perfect comfortable Sunday night viewing. The London Tahn accents get on my nerves from time to time, but otherwise great stuff.
Series 2 and 3 seem impossible to buy at affordable prices now, so I would say, only buy series 1 if you are willing to accept you won't see the story's conclusion, or if you can afford second hand copies that require a mortgae to pay for.
