Product Description

Product Description

Thomas and Levi Jefferson have a short time before the 15th Wisconsin marches out of Chattanooga, Tennessee and they want their images taken. Like two peas in a pod they are inseparable and more so since volunteering to fight for the Union. The images reproduce their likenesses and brotherly affection and something more.

Rummaging in a dusty attic one hundred and fifty years later a young boy discovers one of the images and finds more than likenesses struck to glass.

4.0 out of 5 stars I was on the battlefield along with Thomas 2 Nov 2012
By Linda the Writer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The boy-touches-old-photos-and-feels-faint bit wasn't too convincing, and the exchanges between the brothers could have been better rendered. But when the author carried me to the brink of battle in Thomas's mind and let me experience the sights and sounds along with the young soldier, all shortcomings were forgiven. The outcome for Thomas (which I won't spoil) was revealed in a nicely understated wallop, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Glimpse into the Civil War 7 April 2013
By Haley Whitehall - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I love the cover! This short story gives a realistic glimpse into the Civil War. The author has really done his research. As another reviewer pointed out, I would have liked the relationship between the brothers to have been stronger. I got a better sense of Thomas than I did Levi. Still, this is a very touching story and I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Short Story 9 Feb 2013
By Alex - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A boy finds a daguerreotype in a box in the attic and then the reader is transported to the Civil War to learn the history behind the picture of the two soldiers. I think the story would have been better if the brothers' relationship could have been developed more. Some of the dialogue didn't seem natural and some of the prose was too telling. The Civil War battle was written well, although at times it felt too much like a history lesson. This was a good short story but I was hoping for a more compelling read.
