Always difficult... 14 April 2009
Format:Audio CD
... to do tribute albums well. Some work, bringing new life to familiar tracks, while others are best left alone. In the sleeve notes Sinead O'Connor queries why Candle in the Wind hasn't been included in the selection - I agree, it's a strong, memorable song and is seriously missed. She says she can't believe no-one has recorded it. Well, Kate Bush did - badly and it appears as the b-side to her celtic-reggae-infused single Rocket Man. I can't believe the editor of the album's booklet didn't notice that gaff... :D

The originals are great songs, the choice of artists was interesting and the previous reviews were all very positive. However I found it disappointing. I don't think the interpretations came close to matching the originals or that these versions added anything new. I would suggest that if possible that you try before you buy. I'm afraid my copy is heading for the charity shop.

Music for any mood 28 May 2004
By Yvie
Format:Audio CD
This is one of my most played albums ever I have worn out my original on tape and will replace with the CD!. The artists chosen to perform each song add their own personality to the track and I prefer these to Elton!!, from Oleta Adams powerful rendition of Don't let the sun', Sinead o' Connor haunting version of sacrifice (which I cannot see on Amazons play list??) to Wilson Phillips Daniel. 10/10 cannot fault.
