Firstly I should warn you that the subtitles for this film are diabolical, with a ridiculous amount of typos, also in some of the blue tinted night scenes when the characters are moving quickly they become tinged with a red outline/blur.

This film has caused some controversy amongst Rollin fans, some liking it and some not, so if you have never seen any of his films before do not start with this. The story is basically about two orphan girls who are adopted from the nuns who look after them and taken to live with an eye specialist. The two girls are blind by day and everyone looks upon them as a couple of angels, however come night time they can see albeit in blue and are vampires. The orphans don't know where they originaly come from but they know that they have lived before, leading to them making up pasts for themselves. With a lot of dialogue this is quite slow moving, interspersed with their thirst for blood and some weird characters that they meet.

There is some brief nudity in this film, but really you shouldn't buy it for that, there isn't enough to warrant it. There is some brilliant macabre black humour when the two orphans decide to kill the doctor they are with, they have to think up a way without giving away what they are. On a deeper level you could argue that this shows the way that even surrounded in cities by people we can be lonely, and how so many of us have insecurities, but a lot of people will possibly find this all a bit boring. This once again shows what can be done with little or no budget to talk of.

Two teen girls are blind orphans by day. At night they regain their eye sight for hunting. They are apparently frequently killed and part of the film is flashbacks to previous lives, the first of which was extremely boring with no dialouge, just music. They are adopted by a rich elderly doctor.

The girls wear Catholic girl outfits, frolic in the graveyard, and even partake in dog's blood. In one scene they dare each other to stand naked outside their adopted father's window. They believe they were once ancient Aztec/Inca goddesses. The dialouge is culturally odd in the translation as the girls are described as "so sweet, so pure, just like the sisters of baby Jesus." Another bit was "all gods are real because they are imaginary."

The movie was artsy and not a real horror style vampire film. As an art film, I failed to grasp the message.

Lame sound track. No f-bombs, no sex, some nudity. Neither erotic or scarey.

Unless my DVD is a faulty copy, the subtitles don't work on this release. I've tried watching it on 3 different players after setting it up for French dialogue with English subtitles, but they never show up. The English language dubbing is terrible too and I refuse to watch it that way. The menu was also being a right pain in the arse, having to wait up to 2 minutes between each selection.
I'm going to buy the Redemption release, it's bound to be better than this version.

I can't comment on the film yet as I've only seen the opening few minutes. Looks like it'll be good though!
