Sometimes the best way to deal with a break-up is to write a batch of great songs about it, turn up the amplifiers and just rock out.

Think of enduring classics – from Liz Phair’s Exile In Guyville to Nine Inch Nails’ Pretty Hate Machine to Beck’s Sea Change – and how they achieved musical catharsis from the crumbling walls and crossbeams of a relationship ... Read more in Amazon's Relient K Store

4.0 out of 5 stars www.stateofemergency.net 23 Feb 2004
Format:Audio CD
Relient K are in my mind the saviors of that muddy, yet beautifully sparkling, frost laden no mans land between bands such as Weezer & Thursday. They will storm over the top with their guitars and catchy little complexities in hand – wielding youthful wisdom with a dangerous intent. The delightfully insightful and intelligently witty; ‘Mood Rings’ takes the age old colour changing mood ring product and seamlessly relates it to the actions and reactions of girls. This is beautifully structured with a charmingly melodic acoustic bridge. There is a little more power to be found in; ‘Chap Stick…’ – however this is a much more intense display of intelligence and overall song writing.
‘Falling Out’ is a little too unimaginative and simplistic when lined up against the deeper songs such as the hyper, bouncy and catchy recklessness of; ‘Forward Motion’ with lines such as; ‘We all struggle with forward motion, cos forward motion is harder than it sounds, every time I get some ground I’ve got to turn myself around again. Relient K are also fine story tellers – a great example of this talent is; ‘In Love With The 80’s’. Their music is actually surprisingly strong considering the potential short fallings of melodic or emotional music - such as; Loss of power or weak guitar and bass. Neither of which this record suffers from. ‘College Kids’ is everything that Blink 182 had in their hay day without requiring such obnoxious humour. Despite depicting situations from a cheating g/f at another university to paying $80,000 to learn that all you have to do is show up for exams they will manage to bring a smile to your lips.

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy music! 16 Feb 2006
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Excellent upbeat songs from a band that doesn't take themselves too seriously. Especially nice are the breaks from the fun and games to take seriously the issues of love and life, as in the song "Getting Into You", and the end part of "Jefferson Aeroplane".
Excellent in the car, excellent around the house, and enough clever guitar work to keep even a guitar geek like me happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars another good album from relient k 12 Sep 2008
Format:Audio CD
This is a great album from Relient K. With a good range of music, from fun upbeat songs with commical lyrics like the first track, chapstick chapped lips and things like chemistry, to the deep and meaningful lyrics and soothing sound of tracks like Getting into you. This album is great fun and also beautifully honest and inspiring about our relationship with God.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relient K 18 Mar 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This 3rd cd from the 4 piece band from the States is definately their best so far. The huge popularity of "Anatonmy of Toungue in Cheek" demanded another solid album. They don't dissappoint and without loosing the humour that they are known for, have more songs than ever that really show where they've come from and where they're going in life. This lot are really giving it there all to show who they are and how fun it can be while getting to point of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars just gets better and better 31 Oct 2003
Format:Audio CD
i've always thought of RK as a sort of christian blink 182, only funnier and cleaner. they just seem to get better and better with every album - i loved anatomy of the tongue in cheek, and i thought it would be near impossible to beat, but this, in my opinion does that. admittedly it took me a while to get into the album but now it's a frequent feature in my cd player.
My personal favourites on the album are Track 2 - so very, very true, Matt Thiessen manipulates the english language expertly to produce funny lyrics (which rhyme!) and this is an excellent example.
Track 4 - purely because of Dave Douglas' drumming in the intro!
Track 10 - cool song which gets better at the end, the band just end up ranting. it's great
Track 11 - nice acoustic song, bit of a shock after the heavy end to track 10
Track 14 - another, legendary RK intro, on a par with failure to excommunicate on anatomy, a really really good song.
Track 15 - random, didn't understand it for a while. still a great song though.
buy the cd! and buy the other 2 if you haven't already! and make sure you get the bonus LP "employee of the week" on two wrongs don't make a right...
