There was only one problem with this book and that was that the introduction was too long. At one point I nearly put it down because I was bored, then I turned the page over and I could not stop laughing. This book is not supposed to give an insight of homosexual life, I feel that it supposed to bring in issues and have a laugh with them. So many of the characters u hate then love and then hate again. What a mad book, a great book to read if you want something light hearted. I just wish my life was this fun.

Laugh? I nearly wept, as I surely annoyed my fellow passengers flying to Milan from London. I was unable to stop myself from bursting into loud guffaws! The sarcasm, the innuendo, the sheer believability of the situation made this book almost of the Tom Sharpe mode. I haven't laughed so much since reading Blott on the landscape years ago.

A very good book for your unmarried uncles:))!

What a crazy book! The wonderful premise of Two Gentlemen Sharing that they could arrive in a sleepy village without causing a stir, followed by very "Sharpeian" happenings! I could almost see Wilt arrive in the midst, or Constable Els!

The characters are finely drawn, and totally horrendous. The plot escapes you and bites you in the backside several chapters later. A few minor characters can vanish with no loss to the plot. If the entire "Executive Estate" vapourised, no-one would mind at all.

If you are expecting a story like "Now and Then", you will be disappointed. if you want a waspish vignette of English village life at its most awful, join Rich and Bless and The Brigadier at war.
