It seems that the some of the reviewers here seem to know little about camera work or what makes a Great DVD. I read the reviews expecting to be dissapointed when the DVD arrived but it simply blew me away.

Personally I think the angles used are highly effective and match the quirkyness of Steely Dan's music perfectly. You get to see all of the band members up close and the quick pace of the camera work ensures there is never a dull moment unlike some other music DVD's I could mention.

The picture quality is superb, I agree the interview levels are slightly low in comparision to the rest of the material but the interviews themselves are not only very entertaining but hilarious too. Overall an excellent DVD with superb DTS sound quality, pin sharp like the picture quality. Highly recommended.

A Fine Recording 9 Feb 2007

I agree with what some of the previous reviewers have said. The interviews are rather pointless, and I would rather have had a few extra songs instead of these. As far as the picture is concerned, yes it is a bit dark but I found some of the camera angles to be quite interesting. There were some very good close-ups of the musicians, which is great if you are a musician yourself.

As you would expect from Steely Dan the music is just perfect. The muscianship is of the highest quality and the selection of songs is fairly representative of their career at that point. The sound quality is high (Dolby Digital 5.1 / DTS) and I can't see how anybody who likes Steely Dan can fail to enjoy this.

I have just returned from seeing Steely Dan in the USA and thought that I would add my two pennies worth about this DVD which I purchased yesterday, to see if the judgement of my fellow reviewer was justified or not!. Well to be frank yes and no, admittedly the camera work at times can be classed as shaky (I wonder whether the camera guys have bad nerves or are just over enthusiastic fans who were roped in to film the show after securing free tickets!).But I must say that I found it quite enjoyable to watch and quite a treat for the real Steely Dan fan, whom I feel will enjoy it whatever the camera work is like. The playing is exceptional in the extreme and I feel that the outlay can be justified on the quality of musicianship alone, even my father who cannot say hes ever listened to them found it enjoyable and asked to borrow a few of the discs for himself. I would say invest the money and judge for yourselves, to me it was worth the cost and a good purchase to add to my collection.

Great gig from 2 very amusing fellows
What a great gig with some very amusing asides. If you think the sound is dull through the tv try switching to 2.0 as certainly with my tv the 5.1 didn't produce the best sound. Read more

Binky No 1
I like the humour. Like the camera angles. Like the girls. Mostly though I like the music which is what it is all about - for me.

Hard to beat this
Beautifully filmed and recorded band slots interspersed with tongue in cheek, surreal interviews, complete with wobbly, wandering boom microphone. Wonderful stuff, fantastic DVD.
