Review

“For months I saw and heard the buzz about Twitter, but it wasn’t until Joel told me details about it that I fully understood its marketing implications. Now I can clearly see how this free site can help me further build relationships with my customers, and I am going to be ‘tweeting’ frequently! In fact, I have already started, thanks to Joel. So thanks for writing this book, Joel. It’s going to help a lot of people grow their business!” Stephen Pierce ( www.MakeRealMoneyOnTheInternet.com ) “In the short amount of time I have had with Joel Comm, I can clearly see that this is a man who understands how to build profitable Internet businesses. Twitter Power is sure to set a new standard for those seeking to broaden their entrepreneurial vision to include the latest Internet technologies. I recommend you read it and begin applying it to your business right away!” Bill Bartmann, Billionaire Business Coach ( www.billioanireu.com ) “I was lucky. Joel Comm sat down with me and explained what Twitter is, how it works, and how I could and should be using it for my business. Joel knows more about using Twitter than any other human, and the proof is in his own massive success with "tweeting." You′re even luckier; in this book, Joel will teach YOU everything you need to know about Twitter—and you don′t even need to buy him lunch.” Dan O′Day, radio advertising guru ( www.twitter/dan—oday ) “I′m amazed how many people are not yet using Twitter to connect with customers and associates.  Once again, Joel Comm leads the way into the future by showing people how they can have increased success by taking some very simple actions. This book has inspired me to take my social media presence to the next level!” Christopher Howard, wealth and personal achievement expert “Social media has given online business the fuel to ride the next wave of the Internet for many years to come. If you want to be on the cutting edge of strategies that are being implemented by the most successful businesses, Twitter Power is a must–read. Joel has done a great job of demonstrating how a minor investment of time and energy can result in long–term payoffs. No wonder they call him the Social Media Expert!” Kristopher Jones, CEO of Pepperjam and author of Search Engine Optimization: Your Visual Blueprint for Effective Internet Marketing “Joel Comm′s understanding of social media and its applications for entrepreneurs and the growth of their businesses is remarkable. Beyond his knowledge, it is his ability to communicate it effectively that makes him stand apart, while his humor in delivery keeps you coming back for more. “ Jen Groover, a "One Woman Brand" and founder of Butler Bag LLC “I′ve been a big fan of Joel′s ability and track record to keep up and explain the importance of new web–based communication tools and trends. I consider him to be at the front edge of the Internet and a sage guide to help you grasp and understand changes in the fast–paced online world.” Tony Rubleski, Amazon #1 bestselling author ( www.MindCaptureBook.com ) “Thanks, Joel, for this intriguing look at Twitter. You’ve proven that Twitter Power isn’t just about making new connections to generate sales. It’s about brand–building, focus groups, the exchange of ideas and the emotion of debate. All conducted in real time via computer, cell phone, PDAs, and perhaps even TV by the time you read this. When you add in the incredibly viral nature of Twitter, the possibilities are virtually endless.” Dan Nickerson ( www.YouMetDan.com ) “I′ve been following Joel on Twitter for a while now and I′ll be frank—he annoys me . But in a good way. He always manages to grab my attention in Twitter, despite the limited words availablle within the microblogging platform. This clearly demonstrates that Joel understands how this new and powerful social media tool should be used. If you want to unleash the power of Twitter for your business, Joel is someone you should pay attention to.” Yaro Starak ( www.entrepreneurs–journey.com ) “I′m a twittering fool. Twitter is one of the most addicting things on the net. Besides the fact you get to update everyone and talk to people you′d rarely talk to, it′s a great tool for building an online buzz. Make sure you follow Joel Comm on this subject, because he′s on the cutting edge of this.” Matt Bacak, Internet multi–millionaire, Atlanta, GA --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

3.0 out of 5 stars Making the most of Twitter 6 Aug 2009
Format:Hardcover
Given that Twitter is a 140 character micro blog, you would be forgiven for wondering why you need a book to be able to make the most of it.

However, Joel Comm's book provides real insight for the virgin twitterer who plans to use Twitter as a marketing tool for business. He fully explores all the built in Twitter features and shows you everything from maxing your Twitter appearance to keeping your tweets on the right side of libel!

He also explores the profusion of applications created to help you make the most of Twitter. However, bear in mind that the app list will have been superceded almost as soon as the ink dried on the printed page. I'd advise checking out the current selection of apps IN ADDITION to those outlined in the book.

Good book - absolutely worth the money if you plan to use Twitter in a business capacity. Not heavy on the jargon - I found it easy to read and I'm not a techie minded person at all.

Unfortunately, the whole business world is switching on to Twitter and it is increasingly being used in this way - which gets a bit annoying for everyone else on there who doesn't want a marketing man selling them anything. Read the etiquette section carefully so that you don't end up annoying people.

The Anthony Robbins involvement is the Foreword - he doesn't contribute actual copy to the book content.

Comm's book will alert you to the real business possibilities of Twitter. He guides new and intermediate Twitter users through the whole process of using Twitter productively, from creating a profile to building a following to measuring your success. He also explains how to get business results on Twitter and how to measure those results. While Comm covers the basics for beginners, even experienced users will discover tidbits that will improve how they tweet. getAbstract needs more than 140 characters to recommend Comm's book, which gives corporate communicators, brand managers and individuals the information they need to do Twitter right.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent starter guide 6 July 2009
Format:Hardcover
Yes V. Good.

I liked this book very much because it covers everything to give a complete newbie the confidence to start using Twitter to promote their business.

The book covers so many useful topics. Best of all for me was Twitter etiquette and how to avoid annoying fellow twitterers. Also absolutely invaluable references to Twitter tools (mainly free) to ease and enhance your twitter campaign.

Minor criticism, bit short, could have gone deeper with examples of the actual words used to promote. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Sincere thanks to the author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Twitter Power Review by www.customerfuturology.com 15 April 2010
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Riding on the wave of the Twitter phenomena, online celebrity Joel Comm has written this book to give his readers an insight into how to develop their Twitter profile and gain those valuable followers.

If you are not a user of Twitter either as a personal user or a business looking to dip their toe in the water of social media, this book covers everything. Starting from the basics, this book explains how to open a Twitter account, get the look and feel right with adding your own background, profile picture and any external links you may have. Even though Twitter is very easy to use and quite clearly laid out, I would imagine some people may find this useful.

As the book progresses it clearly outlines to you the does and dont's of managing your Twitter profile from how to build your followers in the right way and how to tweet, which is vital if you are going to both maintain your existing followers and acquire new followers.

One of the chapters explains about some of the various different types of apps available to use in for managing your Twitter profile, tweets, retweets and how to track tweeted links.

Primarily written for businesses but for personal users of Twitter there is a good chapter on Twitter monitoring or `listening' as I like to call it. It explains how to use the search.twitter.com function and then explains how to engage in conversations with those tweeters.

Would I suggest reading it?

Overall it is a good book and purveys Joel's enthusiasm for the subject and more so the Internet. It is best for those coming fresh to Twitter, it is not really for those that currently have accounts, or those people that have read about such corporate successes like; @comcastcares, @southwestair, @btcare and @easyJetcare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book 11 Jan 2010
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book as I am starting my own design and photography business and want to improve my business' presence and image on Twitter, as well as increase my following.

The author guides you through the various ways you can utilize a simple Tweet (as well as the types of Tweets you can create) to market your business. He gives practical examples of Tweets created by successful businesses where possible, which I found extremely handy.

I have since applied his examples and found them hugely successful.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to improve their personal or business profile on Twitter and gain some extra followers in the process.

Twitter has become one of the most prominent social networks, but it's much more than that. In the right hands it becomes a powerful business and advertising tool. Its apparent simplicity belies a rich and powerful architecture that is immensely flexible and capable of addressing a variety of personal and professional needs. It can help a small business connect with new customers and send a word out about its products. It can also help a well established business manage relations with its customers and affiliates, and give it a much more personal and intimate feel. However, exactly because of Twitter's simplicity it is not always clear what approaches and strategies to assume, and what sort of settings and interaction styles are the most appropriate for any given business. In this well written and insightful book Joel Comm aims to address exactly these sorts of issues and introduce Twitterers of all skill levels to the optimum online presence.

The book covers all the basics: setting up your Twitter account, choosing the right kind of layout and design, and the choice of your profile picture. It talks about ways of connecting with friends and potential customers. Most importantly, the book deals with ways of making your Twitter posts relevant and interesting so that people would want to follow you. It also discusses how to drive traffic to your website through Twitter, and the optimum amount of advertising that your followers would appreciate. All these tips are something that you may be able to discover on your own if you are patient enough and willing to learn from your mistakes, but it's very useful to have it all presented in the format of easily navigable book. That way you will hopefully not have to make too many mistakes in your approach to Twitter.
