Clear, useful and comprehensive 3 May 2010
By Callie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Great book, recommended to anyone doing Twitter development. This book is saving me a lot of time, clearly covering all I need to know to write the Twitter application I have in mind. Great coverage of the Twitter API with lots of useful examples. I'm just getting started with web development, and this book has introductory chapters that were helpful.

The scope of the book was also more comprehensive than I expected, covering monetization (how to make money on your App), what makes Twitter popular and ten traits of a respectable Twitter developer.

Comprehensive and amazingly detailed. 5 Jun 2010

This book is *THE* book for anyone with an idea and the desire to put it into action. Regardless of skill level, this book takes you step-by-step and explains the tiniest details of twitter and tweets.

There's not a single aspect of Twitter omitted. This book explains how to use not only the twitter API, it also explains aspects of marketing your application and maintaining your application.

The code included is awesome. This book is a daily reference for me and should be yours, too!

I want to like it 2 Nov 2010
By JT - Published on Amazon.com

There is a lot of good info in this book regarding the Twitter API, but all of it is available online. The whole thing is implemented in basic authentication, which Twitter removed in August, so none of the examples will work as written. Since this was published in May, I am not sure if the author was lazy and didn't want to implement everything in oauth, or if this was a publishing decision. Either way, you have to do a lot of experimenting to get the examples to work with oauth. Even if you use oauth, the examples are coded in Zend Framework, which is known for its larger learning curve. Being a developer, I am not sure why he covers setting up hosting accounts, and like one review said all the extra fluff, I am sure this is more of a publishing decision. The book would be really thin if it didn't.

You can learn everything from this book in a lot less time, and a lot easier using something like Abraham's PHP library and some web tutorials. If you are not a PHP dev, this book wont help you.

There are a few things that peaked my interest, but nothing I couldn't have figured out with a little research.
