Synopsis
Charles Bronson stars in this humorous LOLITA-like drama as Scott Wardman, a 39-year old American writer living abroad in England who pays the rent by writing graphic erotica. When he meets and woos supposed 20-year-old Twinky, intense chemistry catapults them into a serious relationship. But as Scott looks their age difference straight in the face, can their romance survive?

Browsing through the Amazon catalogue for Charles Bronson I found 'Twinky'. This release from 1969, better known as 'Lola', also comes with a different packaging than the one Amazon shows you. The film-credit at IMDB showes you what the mailman will bring to you. Anyway, it's a funny film, really a product of the late '60's. You have to realize at some point that this movie was really directed by Richard Donner ! The story is nicely done, the music is a bit weird, Bronson is not out for a kill this time in this variation on the Lola-tale. One real point of criticism : the dvd release is ridiculously BAD. Were they filming with a digital camera in the back of an art-house cinema ? I haven't seen it this bad since I started collecting dvd's. Even a pre-war classic like The General by Buster Keaton looks better than this. During the movie the name Delta appears a number of times on your screen. Also added for this release is a 25-minute 1952 television-show called 'The Witness'. For completists only.

You can buy a legitimate copy released by Network DVD, also available from Amazon.

Granada International own the rights to this film and have never licensed anything to Orbit Media / Blackhorse Entertainment. Orbit Media release films in the public domain or films that are in copyright but not copyright they hold. Amazon then help them sell their bootleg discs.
