Product Description

Wenlan Chia, creator of the acclaimed fashion line Twinkle by Wenlan, is famous for knitting bold, chunky yarn into delicate, feminine designs. The look is at once whimsical and hip, classic and trendy; in short, Wenlans knits are like nothing youve seen before. Now, she shares her patterns and her secrets with knitters everywhere. Twinkles Big City Knits is a collection of 31 of Twinkles greatest hits that knitters can make at home. From a mohair shrug embellished with ribbon and braids to a wrap vest with a plunging V-neck, every design in Twinkles Big City Knits puts an innovative, spin on classic knitwear and styles. Here are patterns for all of Twinkles hottest pieces: the bestselling seed-stitch Twinkle Hoodie, the cropped and flirty Best Friend Cardigan, the effortlessly trendy Shopping Tunic. For warmer weather, lighter colours and lighter knits reign, so youll find the classic sophistication of the Chanel-inspired Coco Jacket in soft pastels, a delicate and feather-soft scarf light enough for spring, as well as the St. Barts Mini that could very well be the perfect Little Black Dress. Full-colour photographs and clear instructions make it easy to learn new techniques. In addition, Wenlan shares her advice on techniques, choosing yarns and materials to make knitting with chunky yarn as easy as it looks.

Wow!! 29 Oct 2007
Format:Hardcover
Fabulous book!!! When I first saw this book I thought with that many patterns half of them will be hats and scarfs!! How wrong I was, superb inspiring stuff from knitted dresses and cardis to boleros and capes, a lovely mix of super patterns in a reasonably easy format ( not for the absolute beginner but an intermediate knitter should have no probs!!)All knitted on big needles with chunky wool they grow super quick too, it only took me a week to make the hamptons halter!!!
The yarns are all available on line however the author has suggested alternatives and gives the total yardage for each pattern required so you can work it out for yourself.
I can safely say this is the best knitting book I've purchased in ages(and I buy quite a few!!)There are maybe only three or four patterns I wouldn't wear/make and although the designs have a modern twist they would suit old or young alike!! FANTASTIC!!!!!!

I love this book, the designs are fantastic. So much stuff in one book that I really want to wear, taxing enough to feel like a challenge but easy enough, so that I (as a relatively new knitter) can achieve and create beautiful garments. However I have knitted two jumpers and one hat from the book so far and have found errors in the patterns stated in all three. Having to start again is soooooo annoying. There is a website address which has a list of errors so I really reccommend googling that before you start. I was wearing my mohair cardigan on Saturday and feeling very pleased with myself so I wish you well too if you decide to buy what I think is a really good and fresh knitting book.

A brilliant book full of funky designs, a world away from the boring traditional patterns mostly available in England. The only drawback is the patterns are in tiny sizes so as size 16 I will have to re-size most of the patterns, but for most knitters this should not present too many problems. If you only buy one knitting book this year make it this one!
