Product Description

Information on the special needs and natures of twins and multiples is often difficult for professionals to obtain. Twin and Triplet Psychology fills this gap, helping professionals to be better-equipped to offer advice to parents and twins alike.
Examining the psychology of twinship throughout the lifespan, the book includes chapters on:
* twins in-utero temperament development and inter-twin behaviour before and after birth
* antenatal and postnatal influences on family relationships
* twins with special needs
* the death of a twin
* twins in secondary school and adolescence.

Very informative 13 May 2010
Format:Paperback
Although this book's title says it is a 'professional guide' I believe non professionals e.g. twins/triplets themselves, and especially parents of multiples would find it very enlightening. Especially Bryan's chapter 'Death of a Twin', and Sandbank's chapter 'Personality, Identity and Family Relationships' explain some of the unique difficulties that twins (& their carers) face.

twin and triplet psychology 28 Jun 2000
By alfred roelen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Being I twin myself there were many elements that I recognised in this book. However, some of the more important aspects of the psychlogy of twins were not given enough attention in this book. The need for separate identities is the most important of these. Especially since this book is aimed at those who work with multiples, a dedicated chapter on this aspect should have been included.

Most informative book on twins I've found 24 Nov 2010
By Dr. Leslie Becker-Phelps - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have always been surprised by the relative lack of authoritative information on the development of twins. This is truly the most informative book on twins that I've found (and, as a psychologist and mother of twins, I was motivated to really look). There are other 'how to raise twins' books, but this book provides a more complete understanding of the development of twins. Be aware, though, that it is more scholarly than most-- not an 'easy read', nor does it provide many simple answers to everyday questions.
