3.0 out of 5 stars Good-but some niggling irritations for role players, 15 Sep 2003
By S. Jones "magic_si" (S East, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
like his previous works this is a good entertaining read but with some irritations for those obsessives (like me)who wish it was closer to the D&D system. For instance how exactly has Eravis become such an accomplished priest in such a short time? How does Riven manifest spell like abilities the idea that the god mask is watching over them especially robs the story of some of its drama as there is always the suspicion that the god will take a hand and stop anything really horrible happening to any of the characters. These quibbles aside however it was an entertaining read and I look forward to thwe next book in the trilogy after the ending, which i thought had some real suspense.
