Zombies is a modular based game, in which a city grows around you as you play. Each turn, a new playing tile is placed along with an amount of zombies. To win, you simply need to get to the helipad, or kill 25 zombies. Sounds simple? But the task is harder than it sounds. The Helipad is shuffled randomly into the bottom half of the deck, and by the time it appears, you'll have a large city filled with zombies to battle threw, in order to reach your destination.
Player Cards help to make the game more interesting and adds an element of rivalry between players. Some Cards aid the player, some don't, but a lot of them are there to make your rivals life a living nightmare. From tied shoes to mass zombie attacks, these cards cahn make or break a game.
The playing peices are nicely made and there are a lot of them, which really adds the full sense of a city full of zombies.
The game itself can be long or short dependant on how you play, but we have found that on average 2 - 3 hours is a good game, and you'll never play the same game twice.
Expansion packs add new cards and rules, along with new ways of winning, but they do of course make the game space a lot larger, and you'll need a good sized table or floor to play it on.
The offical website has some great alternative ways of playing and some great ideas to enhance the game.
Zombies is a very immersive and fun game, best played with four players, but just as good with two. Each game is different and some we have played have ended with us unable to place the helipad, leaving us to compete at zombie killing.
