It must first be stated that this is a satirical work dating from the late 1800's when the 'sense of humour' was very different to what it is now! I was often shocked by some of the use of language, demeaning to the people of India who were referred to very much in the terminology of the worst of the British Raj. I am not condoning or criticising this - it was how things were at that time, and personally am glad things have changed!
However, as a sort of 'social document' it is quite revealing, but not altogether flattering to the British.
And not a very easy read - good background for research of the period.
