Product Description

Review

This course provides the student with the opportunity to study the relevance of science to them and their future; it develops their scientific literacy skills and provides them with the skills to make judgements about modern science based on risk and benefit. The traditional schemes teach the facts (many irrelevant to what our students will meet in the future) and give a cursory link to society if you are lucky and if time allows! (Richard Barber, Advanced Skills Teacher - Science, Moulton School Science College, Moulton, Northamptonshire)

More opportunity to discuss topical science. Up to date attractive resources provided. (Peter Humphries, Curriculum Manager, Darlaston Community School, Darlaston, West Midlands)

Well done Twenty First Century Science. That's what I came into teaching to do and your course is allowing me to achieve this personal ambition and students achieve a more full and round Science education to prepare them for their future. (Eleanor Owens, Abbeydale Grange School, Sheffield)

4.0 out of 5 stars You have to move with the times 6 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this for a child of 11, because it looks fairly basic. It's probably just too advanced for her and for the curriculum at school. Very well produced, and includes lots of stuff that hadn't even been thought of when I was at school- however, any individual part is easy to understand.

There is no doubt that school science has become a lot easier in the last 40 years, in order to interest more than just a few clever swots. We have to assume that the experts know what they're doing, and that this 'no difficult bits' approach will still lead to high university science standards and employable science graduates.
