This book offers an ideal introduction to the overall background of France as it enters the new millenium. Covering various aspects from the Dreyfus affair up until the Gulf war, McMillan manages to fit a comprehensive analysis of the recent history of the nation: not a bad feat for only 250 pages. A must for French students.
