Book Description

21 Jan 2010

Lara has always had an overactive imagination. Now she wonders if she is losing her mind. Normal twenty-something girls just don't get visited by ghosts! But inexplicably, the spirit of Lara's great aunt Sadie - in the form of a bold, demanding Charleston-dancing girl - has appeared to make one last request: Lara must track down a missing necklace Sadie simply can't rest without.

Lara's got enough problems of her own. Her start-up company is floundering, her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, and she's just been dumped by the love of her life.

But as Lara spends time with Sadie, life becomes more glamorous and their treasure hunt turns into something intriguing and romantic. Could Sadie's ghost be the answer to Lara's problems and can two girls from different times end up learning something special from each other?

Review

Best read with a cold glass of wine at sunset (with tissues) (The Times )

This is Kinsella at her quirkiest and best, and Lara's gradual appreciation of the fact that there's a bright young thing trapped inside every ageing body adds real pathos to this otherwise light-hearted and sweetly comic novel (Daily Telegraph )

Kinsella's latest offering is a classic chick-lit read: light, entertaining and often funny too. This is essential reading for anyone looking for a dose of escapism this summer (Sunday Express )

Wonderfully witty tale...You'll love this quirky read - it's just as girly, exciting and fabulously funny as Sophie's other gems ***** (Heat )

A captivating page-turner (Woman 20100201)

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise 9 Oct 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you expected a typical chick lit book and were put off by the whole ghost of Aunt Sadie bit, thinking it cheesy and put it down... pick it up and keep reading to the end! There's more to this book than meets the eye. A life lesson with valuable insight into the importance finding out the history of people in our lives before it's too late and we're left with only saying an awkward goodbye at the funeral. I feel like I should call up my Mother and ask her to tell me what her life was like in her 20s whilst she can still remember them like they were yesterday. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Kinsella's best books 5 Jan 2010
Format:Hardcover
I just love this book. Since the Shopaholic books Kinsella's books havn't been the best, but I think this one is one of her best books so far. It funny, lovely, has a great plot, and I just couldn't put the book down. It just makes you smile. To be honest I were a bit sceptical about this book as it could have been just a copycat of some of Cecilia Ahern's books, but it's not. If you a looking for a sweet story this is what you're looking for. ENJOY!
